I'm calling uncle. I'm throwing in the towel. I'm waving the white flag. In every expression possible, I surrender. You win, Blogger Man, wherever you are.
As if I have not been busy enough for the past few days with planning, teaching, and trying to get ready for a big upcoming weekend, I am being held hostage by a whirly swirly arrow circlet which will let me neither open nor comment on blogs with any kind of ease or consistancy.
If you've seen me in your neck of the woods, feel privileged. It means I actually had the patience to sit through 17 whirly swirly attempts to get your blog to load and the subsequent 45 clickless endeavors to get a comment to post.
Behold. I stand at the door and knock...
This has been going on for several days, basically since I reopened the blog after the little makeover. I can see absolutely no reason or connection to this whatsoever other than the coincidence of time. What could redesigning my own blog possibly have to do with visiting all the others?
Nothing, I tell you, absolutely nothing.
Yet, apparently Blogland is some sort of Brigadoon which, if you step out for a few days, disappears in the mist for a hundred years.
It isn't my computer or internet connection. I seem to be able to pop about in Email Land without a problem. I can open message boards. I can surf the net like a googling Gidget.
But open a dashboard and try to visit and comment on blogs?
Nooooo.
I'm tired of fighting it. I have become convinced that some sort of gremlin really does live inside this computer. If he's not gobbling up my pictures and belching them up in a distorted vapor across the screen, he's stealing my Irish Growler. (Because no matter what you can see, my own screen still refuses to growl.)
When the sun comes up, I'll be going for a walk and stepping away from Della the Demon Possessed Laptop before I pick her up and toss her out the window.
Please know that if you don't see me in your neck of the woods, it is not for lack of trying.
Before I go, I have two questions that I hope someone can answer.
#1... Can anyone relate to this specific problem?
# 2 What in the world do you call this tree
currently blooming along the 30 mile country commute?
# 2 What in the world do you call this tree
currently blooming along the 30 mile country commute?
The blossoms are the palest lavender
and stand up straight on the branches.
It sort of looks like a terrified wisteria to me.
What is it?
What is it?

I have no idea how to answer your question. I'm so sorry. I know the bare minimum to keep myself afloat. I will pray that you get it figured out because I would hate to not have YOU in blogland!
Hi Debbie, two I don't knows.... don't know a thing about blogger's mind, it has played havoc with me lots of time,
Two. I don't know what tree this is but it sure is pretty. So sorry I am no help today. boo hoo! But you will figure it out. lol. And if you find out how to lasso blogger, please let me know, as I have a score to settle with him! LOl
Love your new look.
Hugs,
Sue
I am so sorry about your gremlin!!! Bless your heart. That's so irritating. I feel your pain.
As far as that tree goes, I have NO idea. I was thinking it looked a little like wisteria too, but I know ZERO about trees and plants. It sure it pretty though.
Good luck with your gremlin!
Gremlins are sneaky and hopefully it will quietly and quickly leave as quickly and quietly as it arrived...like NOW! Some wise blogger out there I'm sure will be able to identify the above mentioned tree. See you soon!
Oh MAN! Hate that news! I have been missing you...here, there, and everywhere!
If I feel motivated today (fat chance), I'll investigate for you. ;)
And LOL @ terrified wisteria! I have no idea, but whatever the actual name is should be scrapped and it should be re-dubbed with your name. It's way better!
Enjoy your walk - it's gorgeous out there! Gotta love springtime!!!
Can we all start a donation bucket to get your dear daughter back to help you fix your problem??? Or pay for the phone calls to her and ask her to walk you through it???
I am truly sorry for these problems and miss you tons. I have to also say that I am clueless to what a Irish growler is too, lol.
I do pray many blessings on you and that you find the answers REALLY quick.
Blessings and ((HUGS))!

Computers are great Debbie, when they work!!! And they're the most frustrating things when they don't! Sorry the Gremlins are winning right now. We have those trees too, but I can't help with the name of them either! Yep, I am absolutely no help, just wanted to stop by to say "hey":@)
Well I hope you get out of the woods and if I had a pickup truck I would venture back there to help you out...but this 50 year old non-tech momma has no clue. You can do it I know you can...like the little engine that could!!!
The trees are beautiful!!! I don't have a clue...but enjoy seeing them!
Love your green sides and your header. I have seen thhose trees, but as everyone else has said, I don't know what they are. I have similar problems from time to time. I guess I thought my internet service provider was perhaps just slow that day. Right now I am typing this comment faster than it is showing up on the screen. I am a relatively fast typer, but NOT that fast! Sluggish and slow are so hard to deal with! Joni
Dear Debbie,
You are missed. I'm throwing cyber stones at Mr. Blogger for you. The thing with computer/bloggy issues is one almost always has to be sitting there with you to understand what is going on. I'm very techy with such things, but without being there I'm no good. I've never encountered anything that sounds like what you describe and haven't a clue what a "whirly swirly arrow circlet" might indicate.
There are some websites (you can Google "troubleshoot blogger") that may can help you. I certainly hope so!
TERRIFIED WISTERIA???? Debbie you are hilarious!! And I love that you named your laptop Della even if she is demon possessed. Maybe there needs to be some laying on of hands and anointing with oil to free her of her ummm...issues. And, I read another blog yesterday where she was having the same problem with commenting so it must be a wacky Blogger issue!
Thanks for commenting over on my post today though...it makes me feel even more loved knowing all you had to go through to do it! :-)
Vanessa
For what it's worth, here's a link to a Help Forum for design and template issues. Maybe your problem is one being discussed already. Fingers crossed.
FYI, click on the word "link" to go there. (hehe)
Where oh where is Miss Whimsy when we need her? You know I am NO techno help at all. Sorry. Not sure about the tree either. Did you ask the Duchess? If she doesn't know, she'll find out. Very pretty though. A little birdie told me you were snapping some Kodak moments in her backyard. VERY pretty.
Debbie, you're a hoot. No, really, a hoot. I'm pretty sure I'm not the first to tell you. TERRIFIED WISTERIA? hahahahaha...too much. They're very whimsical aren't they, story book almost. Very pretty trees but have no clue what they're called.
Hope your blogging troubles go away and especially hope that you don't experience any over at my neck of the woods. I got something similar once but it seemed to clear up on its own.
PS--I have a Della too. ;)
Do you have any followers - past or present who are really great on their blogs? Would your daughter or hubby know. Can you start another blog? You see - I don't know either. It's not your cookies is it? sandie
Debbie, It looks like it might be an Empress or Royal Empress tree. Very fast growing and smells wonderful. The Duchess
Oh boy, I sympathise with the Blogger issues, there's nothing more frustrating than an out of sorts computer! Like Dayle suggested I'd try the forums, I've sorted out a few issues that way. Good luck.
I'm guessing the little swirly arrow circlet is on your browser meaning it is waiting for a website to respond? If so, that seems to be a problem with your internet service provider.
You might try emptying your cache (temporary internet files). That sometimes helps web sites to load faster. If you are using internet explorer 7 or 8, click on the drop down arrow by tools, select internet options, click on the delete button under browsing history. Select temporary internet files and hit the delete button.
I doubt your problem has anything to do with your new blog design. I hope you get the problem fixed because you would be missed here in blogland.
As for the tree - I was thinking some type of wisteria also, but I'm not sure. It's pretty, however.
Blessings,
Joan
Debbie,
Love your new header. Beautiful.
I knew exactly what you meant by circley arrow. You are hilarious!
I am clueless about computer stuff, so I have no help for you.
But I think that the trees must be just what you said, Wisteria terrifia is the Latin name.
I believe that tree is an Empress Tree. Go here....

Oh Debbie~
I am so glad you were able to visit me!! I'm sorry you are having a hard time with 'Della'! And sorry too, that I can be of no help. I'm lucky to do the little I do with my 'Della'!. But even with your setback, you don't lose your wonderful sense of humor! I love visiting you and am sorry I to have been away for so long!
Sheila
And I love your new look! Green's my favorite color!
I have read through all the comments and now have a spot to go look at for the terrified wisteria (I do believe I like your name for it best). The ones in our area have already bloomed and shedded . . .
No help for the circley arrow thingy either :(
I don't know what it is, but it is gorgeous!
I probably shouldn't even leave a comment since I have no answer to either ??... but I do want to share your frustration... of all the things I hate to see, it's when that swirly circle starts. I don't even try any more, I just turn the whole thing off and fire it up again after a minute. Where on EARTH does that thing come from???
Hang in there... you'll get it! :)
I clicked Dayle's link and did see where someone had reported a similar. There was no answer as yet, but...
When I followed Joan's advice, it made the whirly swirly arrow stop at least for now.
Fingers and toes crossed. Thanks!!
Visiting from Janette's, and I love your sense of humor! I've had similar blogger frustrations, and it does take much patience to not throw in the towel. A terrified wisteria? I love it!
OH, MY GOSH!! You have me laughing my head off!!
Computer issues are so frustrating! Glad you found a fix!
So this isn't fun, sorry Debbie. I have lost my comment box several times and had all kinds of problems in the past. Generally blogger fixes something and I'm back to business as usual. I used template designer early on and have survived lots of blasted bugs. It's getting better all the time. Hang in, and your blog and growler look terrific!!!!
You know how I related to this one, Debbie. Computers - when they're good, they're very very good - and when they're bad, they're HORRIBLE!
How odd that you're growling for us, but not for yourself!
Have you threatened Della yet? Tell her if she doesn't get with the program (did you like that pun?) - you're going to authorize a retooling of her motherboard. That might do the trick...
The whirly swirly arrow kinda makes me nauseous...or hypnotized.
Don't know about the tree. Maybe it's a lavender tree...(I tried...)
xoxo
