Making a Splash

This table will be shorter on words than usual due to
conditions mentioned in my last post.

We just couldn't let the month of August slip by, though,
without sharing a poolside table.

Backside view

It's a thrifty table. The shell edged dinner plates were a Goodwill find.  The deviled crab dishes were a wedding present.

We're not actually sure the origin of the large sea shells. A leather pouch full of them was found in my great grandmother's attic about 50 years ago.

Stemware is Aurora Blue by Denby

The exterior napkin is handmade.
 (Fabric from JoAnn's)

I borrowed the shell flatware from my mother-in-law.
I forgot to ask the pattern.

Place card beach chairs are actually Christmas ornaments.

The centerpiece is supposed to look like random sprouts
 on a sand dune.

We used yellow anemones and some succulents
in a wavy bowl of sand.

And that's about it.

Thanks for joining us.

And thanks so much for your notes, your patience,  and especially your prayers as I try to get my old perky self back. I truly appreciate them.

Hi Debbie,

This is a fantastic table!! I love the last photo with the blue, blue water behind the table -- looks so refreshing. You have some terrific elements on this table. I love the driftwood and the fishing net, and the handmade fish napkins are wonderful. The centerpiece is perfect with the bright yellow anemones and the succulents. Your blue stemware, shell flatware and deviled crab dishes are just lovely. I also noticed your shell trimmed placemats or chargers (?). A perfect table for the hot days of August.

I have been thinking about you since I read your last post on Saturday night. I'm so sorry you've been having a hard time for these past 12 years. I have migraines and sleep apnea, among other things, and it is difficult not to let these things get us down. Like you, I typically don't post about these things in my blog. I'll be praying for you and hope you'll be feeling better very soon.

Hugs,

Denise

Oh my gosh Debbie, I love this table. The dishes are just perfect and those little ornament chairs are so cute, your MIL's silver looks similar to mine. Well thanks alot...I did to catch a plane to somewhere near the ocean after seeing this table.

As for your table ~ so cute!! I just want to know who you sent into the pool to give you those perfectly placed splashes behind your table. Loved it all!!

Feel better ~

"Hearing" from you today was a bright spot! Would be lovely to join you for lunch but maybe another time. Beachy themes are a favorite of mine so I adore yours today. HUGS and still thinking of you.

Ohh Oh Oh I saw my name at a place setting! Does that mean I am invited to come to the table?!? [o; I wish it was true and possible. ((HUGS))

I love love love looking at your tables and oooohhh and awwwe over them. And you are making me homesick with the ocean theme. I grew up near Seattle Wa. and I miss smelling the salt air. Thanks for sharing and letting us know you are still kicking and doing okay despite things.

Continuing to pray for you my SSiC

It's a dream! Both the setting and the cooler summer weather that would make it doable. NOT in Texas this summer, so I'll just let my mind wander over to your place today...

Praying for you as I write this, that your days of feeling 'less than' will soon end, and your vim and vigor will be restored. In the meantime, don't put any big demands on yourself, just rest and take it a day at a time.

Debbie -- even with UFO's you have managed such a fun summer table. That first picture was so fun with the splash. Love the shells and the napkins, and the flatware. Your turquoise tablecloth just sets everything up so perfectly and those CHAIRS! Everything just screams summer and I am afraid that I didn't appreciate it enough!

Hi Debbie! That is truly lovely and the perfect table to wrap up summer! I just wanted you to know too that you have been on my mind and in my prayers as you are dealing with those UFO's. :-) I have family members who also suffer from those pesky creatures so I have some understanding of how it can affect you. I hope you are able to get some good rest! :-)

I love this! Your centerpiece and the use of yellow in the napkins are such a nice, fresh "take" on a poolside/beach table. If only your fabulous old shells could tell us from whence they came... Your Aurora Blue goblets add just the perfect touch of sparkle to complement the "splash!"

I'm enchanted by the tiered hand thrown (I'm thinking) centerpiece bowl. It is so dynamic on your lovely seascape. Glad that you're back to tablescape. I claim the Lord's protection for you. I pray that the healing blood of Jesus will flow through you...that you will feel the warmth of His healing touch as the balm of Gilead. My favorite prayer: God, I don't want this pain, and I don't like this pain. But Lord, if I'm going to have this pain, I pray that you will take my pain, Lord, and use it for Your good. In Jesus name, Amen. Thanks for stopping by for a visit. Cherry Kay

Your pictures are amazing! The blue from the table looks perfect with the new pool liner.
I'm so happy the sun finally cooperated--made a huge difference, didn't it? You'll have to thank Miss Practical for the splash effects she created for the table. Really nice touch, in my humble opinion. We do make a good team.

Thanks for going to this effort with this post. I know it's not easy for you right now. Hope you'll be feeling better soon.

Now, every time I see dishes on sale I fantasize about buying them and creating a "Debbie" table. I was never THAT interested in dishes before. LOL!

Hope you are feeling better soon and can get back to your "normal" routines.

This California Girl loved this table!

Loved the soothing color scheme, and all the little attention to details that you're so well-known for (you do have worldwide fame - you knew that, right?!)

I think my favorite thing was the centerpiece. It did so remind me of sand dunes.

Got just one question - how did you time that splash in the background of the first two photos? Don't tell me YOU executed a perfect cannonball?!?!

Continuing to pray for you - quick healing, my friend. And even if you're off your game a little, you're still perky...always.

C'mon, Debbie! Hang in there with me! I'm not going to say goodbye to summer just yet and I need an ally!!! This is a beautifully done table, and I love it that you used the found shells. That's pretty cool! You have GOT to know that I am SO jealous that you made those napkins!!! And they actually make deviled crab dishes for home use? I didn't know that! Those are pretty swanky! Feel better, my love, and I hope you enjoy the long weekend!

Thanks so much for your kind anniversary wishes Debbie. Wanted to comment back on your comment free post. It's a little freakish how much we have in common. I was recently put on low dose fibromyalgia meds for myofacial (sp?) pain syndrome which I've had for close to 15 years. Thank God it's helping. Living with cronic pain is no fun, but it seems neither of us are the type to let it stop us from living and enjoying life!
