Some of you might recall that I tried this last year. Unfortunately the uncommonly cold winter of 2010 had bullied all of the cherry blossoms into hiding.
There was no pink to be found.
We showed up to discover nothing but bare branches trying their best to mascarade behind these pink lanterns. They weren't fooling anybody.
Sad, isn't it?
I did my best, though. I took that shiny red Kodak and went on the Great Pink Exploration, snapping pictures of any pink I could find. I yakked about it HERE.
I wasn't picky...
But...
That was then...
This is now.
We arrived yesterday to a tale of a completely different color, and that color is
Cherry Blossom Pink.
Cherry Blossom Pink.
Here's the same street with the lanterns
Only this year, those lanterns are just a little bling
Hot air balloons started arriving for the party this morning.
I watched about a dozen fly by for the balloon show.
My favorite was this pink one.
This year, it is indeed the Pinkest Party on Earth.
Every block downtown looks just like this.
Cherry blossoms are such a pale pink that they're almost white
But they're pink all right...
Pink cherry blossoms on the streets...
And on all the buildings...
And on the blond bloggers...
Pink tulips too.
They don't discriminate...
They even pay homage to the first camelia show
Of course, the sign is plunked in the middle of a bunch of azaleas instead.
Kind of odd to my way of thinking...
But at least they're pink.
Of course, camelias are pink too.
I just didn't see any downtown.
This bush lives on the Mercer University campus.
It's Parent's Weekend.
The Cherry Festival is just, well... the cherry on top.
With that said, I need to scoot.

Those pictures are gorgeous! I'm so happy the pink decided to come out this year!!
I'm also so happy you're up here with me!!! :)
Your photos capture the pinkness of the festival very beautifully and I would love to visit it one day. I think of cherry blossoms as looking like pink clouds, which your photos show.
Beautiful pinks! Happy pink Saturday!
Perfectly Pink, indeed!
Wow, how wonderful! Beautiful Pinks!
Have a Happy Parents' Weekend!
What a spectacular show! Lovin' the beautiful blossoms-have fun:@)
That is just awesome...and so cheery!! I love the pictures! The lanterns just add the touch...to funny from last year. Look at the difference a year can make, good word for all of us.
Oh, had my green drink this morning, well it looked like mud, not as pretty as yours, because I added blueberries!!
Absolutely beautiful! Enjoy the festival.
Beautiful pinks!

Love seeing all the beautiful pink flowers and of course the pink port a potty too. I guess you have to take the beast with the beauty when it comes to pinks!
Thank you for the comments on my blof! I really appreciate it! I am your newest follower. Not because of your yummy pinks but from the green smoothie from the day before! You got me!! LOL! Happy Pink Saturday!
What a difference in this year's show. Just beautiful. I have been to Macon before, but wasn't aware of this event. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, they are so pretty! I wish we had cherry blossoms here. I have posted about them today too but my images are all borrowed.
Best wishes,
Natasha.
Really enjoyed seeing the cherry blossoms. Downtown Macon is so pretty! I think I have only bypassed it on the interstate. Next time I am over that way I getting off to have a look. Thanks!
Beautiful - of course I'm referring to the picture of the blond blogger. Look at her skin! What's she been drinking lately? (That didn't come out right...)
Really, this was a lovely post - I'm absolutely tickled pink! Give the girls a big hug from their invisible aunt in California.
(You can give yourself one, too!)
xoxo
What stunning pictures! I can only imagine what it must have been like in real life. I'm 'pink' with envy.
Ohhhh...the cherry blossoms take my breath away! I absolutely love them, especially since they are my favorite color. Don't think there's anything prettier.
Enjoy your weekend with your special girls and take in lots of pink for me!
Heavens to Betsy....I just adored visiting your blog this week. Cherry blossoms just are the prettiest.

I would love to see that! It is so beautiful! They must have been devastated last year , wait all year for the blossoms, and then nothing!
Have a good week, Debbie!
So pretty! I love all those blooming cherry blossoms. We don't have many of those around here at all. They are so pretty! Thanks for sharing them with the rest of us!
Beautiful pink post, Debbie!

I died and went to pink heaven! :-) Just beautiful photos and the buds on my own cherry trees are just starting to open and it does my heart good! :-)
Vanessa
I love this! The blossoms on the street were a delightful surprise! Our cherry blossoms are just starting to bud -- but not bloom. I can hardly wait! I'm sending your post to a friend in Macon. SURELY she attended this fantastic festival! Have a great week!
Prettiest cherry blossoms ever. Hope your visit was filled with fun and laughter. With you around...well you know!
First of all, I laughed out loud at your nine patch. PRICELESS !! :)))
You win the grand prize for the most beautiful PINK for PINK SATURDAY. Gosh, I would love to see all those beautiful flowers in person. So glad that you DID.
xoxo
Such Spring beauty a true sight to behold. Thank you for giving us a pink peek, we won't see this beauty for many more weeks here in Illinois.
You captured everything so beautifully. It really is THAT pretty in real life. Much better than last year for sure. I agree, though, that the best part of the weekend was those three "pink" coeds. Had a delightful time. I've attended 7 of these events and this one was the best by far. (my humble opinion) Wonder who was in charge of the planning? Couldn't possibly be anyone practical!!
Your photography is awesome! Loved every picture (even the portapotty!)
I'm cracking up at the picture of the pink port-a-potty. Hilarious! The cherry blossoms are BEAUTIFUL! and hot air balloons? i JUST LOVE THAT! It looks like a fun weekend. I'm sure the girls were glad to see y'all too!
Beautiful pictures Debbie! Everything is pretty in Pink! :)
My front yard cherry tree is in it's full bloom now too! LOVE it! But, I am amazed at all the azaleas you had in bloom. It will be a while before ours show their "true colors." Right now, they are still very green.
Don't you just LOVE spring?
Cheers!
I bet you appreciated those gorgeous pink blossoms all the more since they made themselves scarce last year. I love all the beautiful pics.
P.S. You might want to check your email today. :)
Such pretty pictures taken with your shiny red Kodak!! I'm sure it was even more fun to visit with your daughters though.
Happy 1st day of spring!!
Sue
We lived in Warner Robins for 3 years and you've brought back some happy memories! :)
Hi Debbie,
I've been keeping up with your posts in Google reader while I've been busy with family but wanted to drop by and make my visit official!!
These cherry trees are just incredible--and I know you had an awesome weekend with those precious daughters.
Keep making me smile, Debbie.
Thanks for your faithfulness to me.
Much love,
Dianne
HOORAY for warm weather ! thanks or the beautiful photos (())
I wish you'd swing slightly south on one of your Macon adventures! We'd love to have you! It was absolutely gorgeous last weekend...even though we didn't make it to the Cherry Blossom festivities, we enjoyed every minute of outside time that we could.
And what's funny is that I think Sam and his family REALLY liked Fern Gully. Oh - P.S. I didn't get the job. I'm bummed, but okay. Just really thought this one was "it". Guess God has other plans! If nothing else, I'm getting that lesson about His plans vs. mine. ;)
Hope you're enjoying the springtime sunshine!
How beautiful! I love to see cherry trees blossom. Just beautiful pics Debbie! Thanks for stopping by.
