Mother's Day Unwrapped

If you're expecting a Great Mother's Day Adventure, you won't find one here. Yesterday wasn't that much different than any given Sunday.  That's because around here, every Sunday is Mother's Day. As I explained in THIS post, The Duchess reigns supreme over the family table on a weekly basis.

Plus, the graduating seniors aren't home yet.
Plus, the newlywed niece had a wedding out of town.

Since geography is the only way to keep the Duchess away from an oven, we gathered at The Sister's farm instead.  She had a beautiful table set with her Italian Countyside dishes and a bouquet of roses from her equally  beautiful gardens.

Would you like to see some pictures?
Yeah. So would I.

Unfortunately my borrowed camera decided at that moment to take a Sunday snooze and recharge his batteries.  I would have used the Sister's camera, but that would have required her to email pictures. Simple task for you, maybe, but the woman with the degree in Management Information Systems has yet to get the hang of emailing pictures.

Or so she says.

Apparently, she got all of her computer savvy way back in the last century, which makes her a floppy disc in a laptop world. In the years since she stepped away from the business world, she has basked in the glory of willful ignorance. You know how old people can be...

Have I mentioned lately that she's 50...
and I'm not?

And so, I find myself picture poor this morning.

Not to worry, though, that status is about to change. When I opened my Mother's Day gift, I found a little gift receipt. Apparently, my two conspirators, with a lot of help from Super Dad, had been unable to find the gift that they wanted in the stores.  They did find it online, though, and they ordered it.

It will be here this week.
Want to guess what I'm getting?
I'll give you two hints.
It's shiny...
and it's red.
So... what did you get for Mother's Day?

Seven months, fifteen days (but who's counting) until we can finally put this age thing to rest. (A lot sooner for Sir Lotsa Hair). I know you're excited about the new camera. The rest of us out here can't bear the thought of you not getting all of your fabulous shots!! BTW, I do like to plead ignorance on technology. I'm sure I could learn, but it's so much easier to lean on others.

My girls gave me a gift certificate to the day spa. I'm quite excited since I'd never get that for myself.

Thanks for the kind words about my Mother's Day table. I hope the Duchess liked it, too.

Congratulations on your new "toy", I am sure you will put it to very good use! I love Mikasa Italian countryside, I don't own it but it is on my wish list. (Now if I can only make my wish come true!). :-) xo,

Okay first let me say that I have some trepidations about getting you a new camera. This just means more "candid" posing for me. (But I guess that's okay now that I have "the pose" mastered.)
Also, I am still trying to recover from the fact that my grandmother used the term lol. It will be a LONG time before I don't find it hilarious.

Happy Mother's Day!! :)

Sounds like a wonderful time. Better yet, it's par for the course. Everyday is Mother's Day for the Duchess. I like that. Might even try to see if that could fly around here!

Blessings, Debbie

The only thing I can think of shiny and red is a new car. Am I right?

So glad you are getting your shiny red camera or was it a shiny red convertible?

I got a great white, wood and weathered (what my kids say that I love www) rocking chair from a local antique shop. They did great!!! They know what mama loves.

Happy week to you.

Oh how I live vicariously through you Debbie, having lost both sisters and my mom WAY too young. However, my kidlings do help fill the void, especially now that the two girls are "adults."
I am quite happy that you will be getting a new camera. I would have loved to have seen your table from yesterday!
As for my mother's day? We walked through one of the most beautiful parks (as listed through some company that grades amusement parks on their beauty), and I got earrings .... I suppose to help fill the holes in my ears! LOL!
Cheers!

Yay Debbie, a new shiny red camera!! It sounds like you had a great Mother's Day. So did I! I so enjoyed your Felix and Oscar post and boy I can relate to that whole dorm cleaning thing, as well as the many trips back and forth to the car. It's worth it to have them home for a bit though.

Hugs,

Denise

My sweet husband cooked me a gigantic steak (my weakness). The real gift? After I devoured the WHOLE thing, he would not tell me just HOW many grams of beef I just ate. Bless him...

I'm guessing a camera. Sounds like you had a lovely day-even though there are no pictures. I know that feeling though. My oldest daughter sang and played her keyboard for her public school last year-she sang "In Christ Alone." I was such a proud mommy-except our camera was broken so I have no video of it.

Hi Debbie,
Sounds like you had a good MD even though your girls weren't there. Can't wait to see the beautiful pics you will take with your new camera.

Thanks for your loyalty during this most busy time of my life.

I went back and read several of your posts--I love the Polish Tupperware!

Would love to have Sunday dinner with you, the Duchess and extended family.

Love,
D.

Well Happy Mother's Day...and then I started laughing. Well my husband is 57 and he beat me by years to the prize of reading glasses...I harassed and harassed...well when I got there guess what? yes I paid for all the harassing. I think my eyesight is now worse than his.

So glad you had such a special day and so did the Duchess. What a true blessing to have everyone near to celebrate with...we did that two years ago and it was very precious.

Ooooo...can't wait for the new shiny camera!!

What I got for Mother's Day?? A beautiful bouquet of flowers from my sons' beagle Marty (thanks to adorable husband). And my sons gave me a lovely card - and the words they personally wrote?? PRICELESS!

Yesterday, we all went out to dinner to celebrate - and I was a very happy camper!

Can't wait to see the new pictures!

Debbie, What a perfect Mother's Day gift, and your previous shiny red camera lasted just long enough for your family to have a great reason to get you another one. Your sister's table sounds so pretty, and I DO wish you had received the camera that day, so we could have seen photos. if she weren't soooo old, you could ask her to recreate the table after you get your new camera. laurie

A working camera is essential to the art/obsession/hobby of blogging. Your girls "get" that. Clearly. ;)

Hope your day was fantastic - I have no doubts that it was!

Isn't it great how our kids just know what it is that we want? Congrats on your new gift...
My day was fantastic...I hinted of three gifts and got them all three...What could beat that/
It's really not bad to be in that fifty group...I actually love it! Hope you have a wonderful day..

OK...I wanna guess what it is. It's red and shiny, right? Is it a Kitchen-Aid mixer/food processor? That's the way my crazy mind works. I want a red one! :-) Sorry your camera went wacko on you. I HATE it when that happens!!! Have a good weekend!!!
