Tea For Tulips

Remember last week when I confessed to having some silver napkins rings in my possession that I had borrowed from the Farm Sister over a month ago?  Yeah, well, I did return them. I didn't feel quite so bad about being the borrower when I went out to the farm this weekend, though.

Her spring dining room table ought to be named Something Borrowed, but we've  named it Tea For Tulips instead.

(Actually, I named it. I'm the only odd bird in the family who feels the need to name a table.)

The inspiration for the whole table came from these
tulip salad plates which belong to the Duchess.

She added a light green dinner plate to go under it...
which she also borrowed from the Duchess.

And then placed them atop a white ceramic charger.
Yep.
That belongs to the Duchess as well.

Here's the Dish of the Day:
You're never too old to borrow from Mom.

Those egg cups?
They belong to the Duchess.

They're filled with tulip cupcake liners and candy.
She borrowed that idea from Pinterest, I think.

They're filled with pastel M&Ms, but you can't see that in my picture.

Of course, not everything on that table is borrowed.
The linens all belong to her. She got those plaid napkins at TJ Maxx last year.

I'm planning to borrow them.
I bought the matching tablecloth.

They are layered with some pale yellow ones
and shooshed in a napkin ring...

which, ahem, she borrowed from the Duchess.

The flatware is her own Dover by Oneida.

The casual stemware is hers as well.
She got the green ones at Christmas Tree Shops.

All centerpiece accessories belong to her.
But those tulip votives  were borrowed from the Duchess.

And there you have it. The Farm Sister's springtime table.
I really do think it's lovely.

So lovely, in fact, that now I'm off to see the Duchess
to do some pilfering of my own.

'Cause I'm the baby sister...

For other baby sisters out there,
no further explanation is necessary.

I'll call you beautiful. You always do a fantastic tablescape Debbie - but when you add my favorite flower in my favorite color - it goes right to my heart. And those tulip votives!

Love it, Sandie

Hi Debbie,

I love this table!!! Your sister has a pretty dining room, by the way. Well, once again, everything on the table is lovely. I love the green taper candles, and the little flower candle rings, as well as the tulip votives. I love the real tulips, too -- one of God's most amazing flowers. And the pastel table linens are so perfect for spring and for Easter; just my cup of tea. Your mom's tulip salad plates are so pretty. I don't blame the both of you for borrowing.

Oh, and I have a younger sister, so I think I get the baby sister reference. (Insert eye roll) :)
This is a pretty and funny post, as always.

XO,

Denise

As Randy Jackson would say, "I FEEL you, dawg!" I'm the baby sister, too, and I feel entitled! :-) I'm very good at pilfering, too!!! I have never visited my sister's home in Minnesota, but I'm sure she'd think a cat burglar was on the loose if I ever did!!! :-) My Mom is used to it by now. GREAT spring table!!!!!! Your big sis did a really great job! She did a good job of mixing and matching!!!

I love it! The tulip plates are gorgeous! I think my fancy flatware is Dover, although I don't think it has ever been used. Someday...... Love the white teapot on the table. I am a teapot lover!

Denise's table is perfect for Spring! She has a great eye and knows exactly how to combine her own and the Duchess's pretties. Of course, we all know she wouldn't have had to borrow those napkin rings if someone had returned her. (Just sayin' ...) As for the baby sister business, I'm rolling my eyes, too, and adding some "Oh, Bru-ther!" Other than that, I'm really glad you and your sister are close enough to borrow things and play in the dishes together and make everyday memories. Wish my baby sister were closer! ...Beautiful table, Denise! Happy Spring to all.

Very lovely. I am partial to the napkins, egg cups and votive candle holders. I'm also the baby sis. My Mom is a collector of beautiful dishes and loves red glassware. I'm thinking I should take some pics when I visit her at Easter. I'm sure she'll have some beautiful table settings.

Debbie, beautiful tablescaping runs in your family (and apparently also borrowing from each other runs in the family). How wonderful that you all live close enough together to borrow for a tablescape. This tulip scape is beautiful. She should have only done two place settings, so you could have named the table tea for two lips! Love the tulip cupcake liners in the egg cups. I'm going to have to remember that. laurie

Hi Debbie, I'm the BIG sister and yes, I know how those baby sisters are! And you are right--we are never too old to borrow from mom. I just found out the other day that my mom is planning to give her wedding china to my daughter! I said, what about me? I've been waiting forever for them!!!! Maybe my daughter will let me borrow! Your sister's table is wonderful, whoever the pieces belong to, and I am going to borrow/steal the egg cup and m and m idea! Linda

Such an adorable table! Love it. Love how the tulips are filled with candy in the egg cups. In a previous post of mine I had the tulips filled with candy and used plastic cups to take them to a movie night at a friends house. Hers look elegant. Mine look - well, movie night casual :)

I think it is just lovely! And I am betting those napkin rings came from CTS too! I have them and the glasses!
I love tulips, and this table is so soft and pretty. I think it is great you can share. It would be fun to have a dish library where we could borrow the dishes, do a scape and then return them! :)
Lovely table, Debbie, and thanks for linking to Let's Dish!

For Valentines Day my Handsome always gives me a bouquet of tulips. They are the best!

It is good to be back and plan to pop in often. I missed you!

I'm thinking monkey see, monkey do "little sister" would be the better approach for your borrowing!!!

Thanks for photographing my table. It was not really anything special but I appreciate the fact that you think it worthy enough for your blog.

As usual, your descriptions had me in stitches.

How nice to be the baby sister :)

You always set the loveliest table but I think you've out done yourself with this one. So pretty!

I'm late for the party (sorry that that seems to be a regular thing lately...) - nevertheless, I so enjoyed tiptoeing through the tulips on this delightful spring-themed table!

I had a good laugh about the *little sister* pilfering remarks. Seems like things happened a little backwards in my family. My little sister was very good at REGULARLY cleaning out her drawers and closet. I was (and am) a packrat. I can't tell you the many times that I *pilfered* her bags and boxes earmarked for the GoodWill!!

I think I liked the vase the best - so pretty!

Can I come pilfer some time??

xo

I especially love my new tulip cupcake liners. And the GREEN, of course.

My. I feel so very blessed. Hearken while I say with my tu-lips: Thank you (Duchess)!

Love, love tulips! These "borrowed" items make the perfect table. I'll know you all have so much fun with each other - you need to have a central storehouse for all your goodies!
I'm a baby sister too - thank goodness for big sisters!
