Of Blog Apparitions and Stuffed Shirts

So it looks like I'm turning into a blog apparition.

I disappeared... and then I reappeared... and then I disappeared yet again, making only random flower cart hauntings here and there in blog land.

Sorry about that.

I honestly didn't mean to skip another week.  It's just that I had two major distractions in the home place. They were good distractions, though, since they were close encounters of the daughter kind. Not only did Miss Whimsy come home for her fall college break, but The Practical One flew in from DC for a week as well.

Yes indeed, my blog space may have been empty, but my cup was full.

My days were full too, but believe it or not, I don't have a single picture to show for it. I seriously need to get my groove back.

So instead of pictures from the Great Daughter Adventure, I decided to jump start my blog engines (yet again...) by joining the Note Card Party at A Haven for Vee.  That's where we dust off four pictures from the archives which could be made into note cards.

They don't have to have a theme, but I'm a themey little blog apparition so mine generally do. In celebration of the season, I chose scarecrows. For the past two years, I've given a tour of the scarecrows decorating the business district of my home town. It was difficult to choose four favorites, but I gave it a whirl.

You might recognize this one from my header.
He guarded the local gift shop.

This one sat out in front of a book store

A starving artist at the art gallery

And even a Scare Mayor at City Hall

And that's all I have this morning. Thanks once again to those of you who have stuck with me through my unexpected little life detour the past few months. I plan to get back in the blog swing now.

Of course, you know what "they" say,
If you want to hear God chuckle, tell Him your plans...   .

What cute note cards all those pics would make!! What a special town you live in, if all the shops decorate like that!!

Good morning! Love all the scarecrows...soo cute!

How fun to have the daughters there for a whole week! I am jealous! ; )

"If you want to hear God chuckle, tell Him your plans..." isn't that the truth?!

Enjoy your day!

So good to have a new dose of sunshine from you this morning. Love the scarecrows, hard to have a favorite. Glad your Great Daughter
Adventure was such fun! You know I truly understand!

Yes indeed, those daughters do take precedence over your faithful blog readers but we're so happy to have you back. Love those scarecrows. I hope you'll have an opportunity to show a few new ones from this year. I understand there's a cute fellow in front of the bank.

Hoping and praying that your plans and God's plans are the same cause I really miss you when you're gone. Just sayin'...

Hey Debbie,
I've been missing you but knew you would return --So glad you got to have that special time with your daughters--somehow those "quantity" times seem to get less and less as the years go by--So they are very precious.

The scarecrows are so different--I love them and glad you did a theme. I may just have to join that note party. Haven't done anything like that in a long time.

Do you think I could do a theme of "weeds?" ha

Good to have you back!

Debbie, I am always happy to see a post from you. I am sad you couldn't get to the SBC but you had more important things on your plate. I need to get a post out soon. xo

SO WONDERFUL TO HEAR FROM YOU, Debbie!!!! Catching up with my fellow "off the gridder" and seeing you have quite the upset. Whereas I'm wishing I didn't have quite so many working hours in my week - you and hubby are praying for those working hours to be returned to you! But, I know the journey - on that path now - total TRUST. We're depending solely on the Lord - working like dogs and knowing His provision one day at a time. No company to eliminate us - only our Heavenly Father who cares for us greater in every way than we could ever hope for. Just needing a bit of balance - new projects and working out kinks are extremely time consuming.

By the way - as to that sewing nook - forgive me - I'm totally GREEN about it! i bought a wall cabinet with an ironing board for $20 at a yard sale to put in Bethany's room when I take it over next month. Trouble is - I understand she'll be leaving a few too many things for a while . . . ah, me . . .

Joy!

I was going to chastise you for using the photo of me reading, but then I realized your subject had blue eyes, not brown. Apparently everyone does have a nearly identical twin somewhere on earth. ;-)

Looking forward to more words from you in blogland.

Cheers!

I know you and your girls had the best time last week. And I am having the worst time remembering the camera and blogging about it too. Let me know how you get your "blog" groove back because I need mine too.
I noticed your new header right away. Love it! {and if it's been there forever and I am just now noticing, please be gentle with me ...lol}
Have a great day Debbie!

Hi Debbie,

Ironically, I was just thinking about you this morning and wondering if all was well with you, and then magically, your post appeared on my sidebar. Yay! How great that you got to have BOTH your daughters home this past week; I'm so pleased for you. :)

Your note cards are just terrific -- perfect for the fall season. I love that your town does that every year; fall really is my favorite time of the year. I think the starving artist scarecrow is pretty funny. :D

I really missed you at the blogger's conference, but I followed orders and told Barbara and Heather "Hello" for you. They were really glad to hear from you.

Have a wonderful day, Debbie.

This makes me want to take a stroll down those sidewalks and linger a while with the book store lady!

Hi Debbie, We'll take your posts whenever you are ready to put one up! I always look forward to seeing what you have for us and to your words of wisdom! Oh, yes, much chuckling must go on, but then maybe what is planned for us turns out in ways we could never imagine, being merely humans. Love all scarecrows so these note cards would be a happy addition to my stash. Linda

These are the cutest scarecrows I've ever, in my entire life, seen. Just darling and your choice of photos for note cards is just perfect.
I would sure buy these...love 'em

Say - just posted on Vee's Note Card Party and know I commented above already - but didn't say anything about your scarecrows - AWESOME! We live near a town where businesses in the quaint downtown area sponsor a lamppost and design scarecrows much like these to be propped up against it. Many - by dress and props in hands - tell a story and are beyond clever. My favorite here - the artist, of course!!
Joy!

Hooray that you're back, but who could fault you for taking the time you need to be with family? That's part of the joy of blogging...you can take a little time away and come back stronger than ever. Kinda like a TV show on summer hiatus! :-) The starving artist one is my favorite, but they're all really good. I can just imagine the captions that might be on these post cards! :-) Happy Wednesday!

Just got home from my "distraction" too Debbie and haven't had time to post anything new either. Fall is such a special time I just want to enjoy everything before the snow flies (which it did while I was gone) Looking forward to your next post when you have time.

You've been missed. Love the pics but totally understand that time with family (and other things) are sometimes a priority. I've been off my blogging game lately too, but I just remind myself that I didn't start my blog to create another source of stress, I do it when I can and do it at that time with joy!

Love them all but the Starving Artist girl was my favorite!

Two daughters at home - how wonderful! Glad your absence was due to something happy and fun!
