Color Pops

It's time for the monthly tablescape challenge at
Let's Dish!
This month's challenge was Let There Be White

The rules:
Use all white dishes dishes
and only one accent color.

For our white place setting, we chose a casual set that belongs to the Farm Sister. We liked it because of its pure white hue and unique shape. I have no idea who made it or what the pattern is. It's all written in French. I took five years of French, but the only thing I can seem to remember is ferme la bouche.

We even used a white ceramic charger.
(The Duchess found those a few years ago at CTS. I wish I owned some.)

Then, we broke up all that white with our accent color, which...
surprise, surprise,
 is a pop of red.

We decided to make ours a breakfast table.  That way, we could add this little white egg cup and serve decoupaged eggs.

**edited because of comments: Yes, I did make the eggs.  I used patterns from some wrapping paper.

And some strawberries in yet another little white berry bowl.

And a  white creamer and sugar bowl.

And a white pot full of white daisies.

When we stick to a theme, we stick to a theme.

We're what you call radical rule followers...

OK, maybe not completely radical.

There's not a rule book in the world that would give our triangle of glassware a pass, but if it's breakfast, I'm having coffee, and I'm having it in a mug.

On the table it went.

We couldn't decide if a coffee mug went in the dishware category or the glassware category so we compromised and used a white one with a pop of red.  The juice glass is stuffed with another napkin because everyone knows you use two napkins on play tables set for invisible people.  It's a rule.

The rules also allowed for more color in the flatware  so that's what we did.

And viola, c'est fini!

OK, maybe I remember a little more French than I thought I did.

Le petit déjeuner est sur la table.

Bon appétit!

Love this tablescape, Debbie. If I had decent white dishes I would have participated. No one needs to see my old played out Pfalzgraff Basketweave. lol You followed the instructions set by Miss Kathleen, too. ;-) xo

I really love this table, Debbie. And I have decided to respond, s'il vous plait. Will I attend your breakfast as an official invisible person? OUI, OUI!!

I loved the mugs, but my absolute favorite thing of all was the decoupaged eggs. Very stylish. And I like how they kinda *matched* the mugs.

Once again, you have created a delectably delicious and delightful dining experience. I expected nothing else...it's a rule.

Well, Mizz Debbie...this might be THE most beautiful Red and White table I've ever seen. I love every single thing about it. You have the talent of making it all look beautiful but never, ever STIFF....I love your work.

I have so few dishes that are unpacked, I can't do a very pretty table right now. I am having Tablescape Withdrawals tho so may have to do a pitiful one soon. :)

Great table sister. All of the white with just a pop of red is stunning--even for breakfast. So glad the sun cooperated for a little while so you could photograph outside. And, daisies are such a happy flower. Love them.

I'm impressed with your table setting and your mastery of the French language! Both are magnifique! (Did I spell that right?)

BTW, I couldn't believe it when I ran across Sharknado on t.v. the other day. I started laughing all over again telling my husband about your Turtlenado adventure. :)

We were on the same wave link with the red and white colors. I like your red tablecloth as the basis. The cute egg cup and red design on the egg is the best! I love all the great details especially the cute napkins.

This table is a delight, Debbie. I love all of the red. If you hadn't told me you were linking to the White Challenge, I wouldn't have even noticed that the dishes were all white! Those eggs are so cute, and the pattern looks like it was taken straight from the mugs. Two napkins is a good idea, especially if you don't have to wash them after you've used them on a table. Love the shapes of the plates. Y'all definitely met the challenge, and you did it beautifully! laurie

Tres bien Debbie! You did a great job with the challenge! I think our teacher Kathleen will approve of the red on the mugs! I'm not sure I would tap into that egg though but I'm sure the invisible people found them to be delicious! Linda

Wow, this is what I call a happy table! I'd love to have breakfast at this fabulous setting. What a way to start off one's day! Love the stack of dishes and the clever way you brought in the reds. This table is one of my favorites!

Oh my, Debbie...I am head over heals in LOVE with this table!! What cheerful happy vibes this gives off & you never fail to make me laugh at your witty comments. I smile every time I visit your blog.

I was sorry to read your DD has shingles. She could have been exposed to some child with chicken pox OR another person who has just gotten the injection for the virus. Sometimes people do break out in a mild case of them from the live virus injection & thus, are contagious. YOU be careful, ya' hear!!

Ferme la bouche! I took French, too, and we all thought we were so cool to know that phrase when it wasn't even in the textbook - teacher taught it to us.

On a decorative note - love the red and white - second one I've seen this week, though your table is decidedly more profuse in attire.

Love that you love our little VBS fun. Miss Brenda is the little brain behind it - a bought curriculum that she hands out to staff and everyone makes of it what they will. It's sort of a catch as catch can since Miss Brenda is a homeschooling parent of five and does everything in a sort of tornado-like efficiency - it all sort of falls back to the ground in a clump - but the clump usually works, oddly enough, and God gets the glory. As it should be.

Don't miss my next post - sometime between tomorrow and Saturday - want you to meet a new artist friend (on Etsy, too) who moved to town about three years ago - started her designs then, too - I am overwhelmed with her giftings and joyful in a new kindred spirit friend living five minutes away!

Joy!
Kathy

Debbie, fabulous work on the Kathleen's white with accent color challenge, my friend! I just smiled on the 3rd photo when I saw the decoupaged egg in the egg cup. Of course, red is my favorite color, and I just continued to smile at each picture and French saying (trying to remember my own one year of college French!). Great job!

Kathleen said...

You get an A! I love this table, anyone sitting at it would be very happy! You did a great job, as usual!
I never took French, just Latin and Spanish, but fabulous would be my word for it! The napkins are adorable!
Thanks for linking to Let's Dish!

Of course, you know you had me at red!!!

Your eggs look just like some of my dishes. At first I thought, did I miss those when I bought the dishes?

At any rate, I really love this table, imaginary guests or no.

This is so fun. I particularly love the eggs. Is that a paper pattern? Such a clever idea. Dianne

Red and white make such an amazing table...♥♥♥ it, Debbie.
Sometimes it is better to keep the mouth shut...you can learn lots! My parents were French so I heard that a few times growing up.
Have a wonderful week...

Amy Kinser said...

You know I love white so that part is wonderful and the big splash of red just makes it so much more exciting! The details are wonderful!

I took French and the only thing I remember is the teacher's name and how to say "so so". Problem is I don't know how to spell it. (come se come sa) Total misspelling but figured I would leave the redneck version spelling. :)

Holly said...

I am absolutely rolling at your comment... well of course everyone knows you place two sets of napkins for a table set for invisible people. I'm going to laugh about this all day. And need it to, thanks! Oh and BTW... back to the table HELLO beautiful. I love all of the pops of red. I think there should be a rule that every room in the house needs at least one pop of red. Debbie, as always your post made me laugh, and it's full of eye candy, too. :-D I loved the parts about sticking to a theme and following the rules. Also, your French makes me laugh. :-D I took four years of French, and mine is on a par with yours. :) Believe it or not, I've thought about doing the Rosetta Stone program if it wasn't so expensive.

Your table is so pretty!! I especially love the white pot of daisies with the red ribbon -- so cheerful. I also love your little white bowls of strawberries, the red flatware, and the pretty napkins in glasses. You and the farm sister have created another lovely tablescape!

I hope you have a great weekend, Debbie!

Hugs,
