Sunshine On My Table

Peeking in carefully lest I wake the blogger gremlin who has been wreaking havoc with my blog for the past few days. UGH. I think I was sent to the corner for putting the words Blogger Schmogger in a recent post.

Well, oops. Won't do that again. blogger schmogger... blogger schmogger...blogger schmogger

I'm just in time to share my first table for the year.  Big surprise... it's a yellow table to go with my theme color for 2012, the Year of  Finding the Sunshine.

I originally set this table a week or so ago for our last family dinner before both our chicks left the nest.

That first table was simpler.

I didn't want to waste the money on fresh flowers that night since no one would be home to enjoy them. I just piled a pedestal with some magnolia leaves and lemons.

The linens are vintage ones I found at a local antique mall last year.  I actually bought them to use on the kitchen table, but I figured I could make them work here too.

I love the pale, butter yellow shade.

Napkin rings are Italian Countryside as are the dishes.

The charger is just a basic Hobby Lobby gold one painted yellow. I sprayed it first with Krylon Fusion then gave it a second coat with some leftover Cowslip 4 from the kitchen walls.

Those yellow sherbet dishes are the only new (to me) thing on the table. I went on a search for yellow and found them at another local antique mall.  I just love vintage dishes and linens. They're kind of my weakness.

I added some lemons and greenery  just because I wanted to.

And of course,
two small vases of yellow flowers...

and some extra stemware for sparkle.

And that's the way it looks this morning.

I may not have my whole family home to share it with me, but
every time I pass the dining room,

I see a little bit of sunshine.

Love all the sunshine on your table! The lemons and the yellow flowers put just the right amount of punch with those fabulous linens. I want those linens. I also want those napkin rings. Where'd you find them? You need to invite someone over to use this beautiful table. Hint. Hint.

I was having some problems with your blog yesterday and I don't have a blog of my own. Hope they fix it.

Thanks for sneaking in to share your lovely table and it is a ray of sunshine today. Hope your day is bright and sunny! ((HUGS))

From another vintage dish and linen (and Italian Countryside) lover... Great table! I'm posting a wintery t'scape this week, so your punch of warm sunshine is just what I needed to see about now. I hope you're having a good week.

Hi Debbie,

This is such a pretty table. I love that you took those morning photos with the sunshine streaming in the windows. It's a soft kind of winter sunshine.

I really love your antique yellow sherbets -- they're lovely and VERY unique. I also love the napkins and napkin rings. Italian Countryside is such a classy white pattern for setting a pretty table.

Last of all, I'm SO glad you used lemons. I have always loved lemons, and love to eat or drink anything with lemon. Have always loved fresh lemonade, lemon pound cake, lemon sorbet, and on and on. :-)

Thanks for sharing this cheerful, sunny table and have a great week!

Denise

One of these days we'll meet in person and you will have to take me shopping with you! I too LOVE vintage linens but only find bits and pieces in this area. You seem to find the entire sets!

Your table is beautiful as usual and I love the simplicity of it. Very nice.

Cheers!

What a wonderful kickoff for your YELLOW year! I immediately fixated on those fabulous yellow sherbets -- they would have come home with ME, had I seen them first! I think the combination of lemons and flowers adds SUCH a lovely touch. And I had not thought of painting chargers (duh!). Love them in yellow!

A beautiful sunny happy 'scape, Debbie. I do love the Italian Countryside dishes, can't really justify them for myself now maybe one day. I love antique linens. Now and again I treat myself to some napkins or a little something. xo

Hi Debbie, I know what you mean, my two little chicks have gone too, and I have felt a little down, so a little sunshine was just what the dr. ordered!! My daughter is planning to move to NY city, (I am in VA, closer to your daughter), and I know EXACTLY how you feel--that in between place. She just got back from spending a few days there, and is more determined than ever. (sigh) Anyway, back to tables, I am amazed at how crisp and clear your photos are!! They are just beautiful! The vintage cloth and napkins are oh so pretty, they look great with the Italian Countryside dishes. I will be thinking of you, I'm sure your daughter will be great at her new job, very exciting! Hang in there...

Debbie -- sorry about your blogger schmogger woahs. My computer died and I am using an incredibly horrible borrowed one -- it doesn't like most blogs and sometimes it pretends to like a blog and then after you have written a really pithy comment it will shut down on you so hopefully I can get through to you. I tried to post the other day about dropping your daughter off in Washington, D.C, -- what a fabulous experience she is in for! I love this table and the cheeriness it brings. Finding the Sunshine is an awesome motto for the year. I have some sherbets like that, but they are more of an amber color. I have used lemons to as a centerpiece. They are so functional, delicious and beautiful. Joni

Great table! I just love that butter yellow color and mixing the vintage in makes it so interesting too. I have bought chargers with the intention of paiting them but haven't tried it yet. Yours turned out great! I'm definitely trying it out now. Thanks!

I really, really like this table. Now, let me tell you what I like--first: the napkins--love their color, their texture. The tablecloth--a square not covering the whole table. I like to do that a lot, and that way I get to enjoy the look and feel of the wood too. The whole tablescape. The lemons. The yellow sherbets. And I'm not even much of a yellow fan!! I'm your newest follower! Stop by my "nest" when you can. :)

This table is so pretty Debbie, the yellow just looks so fresh especially with the lemons. I'm so green with envy that you can just step out and pick some magnolia leaves for a table. I have to spend $$$to get them up here. Thanks for sharing your sunny yellow table.

Your table looks like sunshine, for sure. I love that shade of yellow, not too bright just lovely. How smart to spray paint the chargers because it's difficult to find ones that match. I would love to have you add this to my party. There is still plenty of time. Come if you can!---- Shannon

Sunshine is exactly right...such a bright and cheery table. I bought some cheap chargers to spray paint as well!!! Now, for me, lemons would be more expensive than flowers for a centerpiece! ;0)

So cheerful! As one of your resident Invisible People, I'm sitting down for breakfast. My order? Why, eggs sunny side up, of course!

By the way, have you posted a final "reveal" on the new dining room? If you did, I must have had a senior moment (it's more like senior hours lately) -

You know, maybe you also picked YELLOW this year as your theme because it will continue to remind you of those two chicks (baby chickens, not *chicks*) of yours. I've learned that "out of the nest" doesn't mean that they are EVER out of our hearts - and it's the same with them. Mom lives inside in a very special place...

Oh, Debbie, your tablescape is beyond lovely...and just what I needed today. I am about to go insane with the cold and lack of sunshine/green things of winter. We can't move back to Florida quickly enough for me!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful table. And for what it's worth, I think the lemons and magnolia leaves are every bit as beautiful as a bouquet of flowers.

Love,
Patti

I love the lemons on the pedastool. I bet it smells fantastic sitting around that table! The stemware is fabulous. It looks a lot like what I picked out for my wedding and got exactly two glasses. Love that silverware too! Is it Oneida Act I? It's also one of my favorites.

You are SUCH a smart, smart girl for whipping out the paint on those chargers! I should do the same! There are a lot of colors I would love to have but just have not been able to find. (Although I did finally find lilac ones at Michael's recently.) I think I'll be doing some painting when the temperatures start to rise around here. LOVE the sunshiny yellow, and really love your 2012 theme of Finding the Sunshine! The lemon tower on the pedestal looks fab! And I love what you did in the compotes!!!!!!!!! Right on, Miss Debbie! Happy 2012!!!

Our last trip to Tennessee I boldly cut leaves from a Magnolia tree that was in front of our hotel. Hubby threatened to call security as I quickly shoved them in the car.

Your tablescape reminded me of my crime and confession is the only salvation at this point.

Love the lemons and the lovely magnolia leaves tablescape even if it did make me feel guilty.
