It's A Brand New Morning

Of a brand new year!

(Yes, I did wake up in time to capture the first blue hour...)

I'm pretty excited about it, too. I generally love the first day of a new year, and I particularly like the start of an even one.  I don't know why; I'm just odd like that.  I'm not actually a big numerology girl,  but if I were, I think I would like the year 2014. After all, 7 is a Biblically perfect number... and it takes two 7's to make a 14.  Therefore, I'm thinking that the 14th year of a new millennium might be practically perfect in every way.

You know, kind of like Mary Poppins.

So I'll bet you think I picked something poppy for my color of the year, don't you?  Well, I didn't. Try to keep up, folks.  I did the poppy thing last year.  This year's color has an inspiration all it's own, and  for my life right now, it's practically perfect in every way. I plan to tell you all about it in a day or two.

Or if things roll the way they did last year, maybe around March...

This morning, I just wanted to get my wheels turning with a New Year shout out to all my friends in Blogville.  I missed you, and I missed blogging. Oh sure, I got a lot accomplished in the past several months. My house is as neat as a pin. (OK, maybe more like a knitting needle, but it's neat, I tell you.)  It's organized too. I can actually grab things in closets without feeling like Chicken Little.

I completed some projects around here which I might yak about at a later time, and I even had an adventure or two in the past few months.  All in all, it was a time of great accomplishment.

But here's the thing: While stepping away from the world of blogging might have given me more free time and made me a touch more productive, it didn't make me happier.  I'm not saying that I walked around like Debbie Downer or anything. It's just that I missed looking at life through the eyes of a blogger. I still carried around the shiny red Kodak, but the pictures seemed incomplete without the yakabout.

Can anyone relate?

So for better or for worse, I'm back like a bad Henny Penny to try again.

I thought I would begin with a recap of our very adventurous New Year's Eve around here. Then, I realized that it was basically a remake of Mr. Fuddy and Mrs. Duddy, right on down to the restaurant of choice. This time,  though, I was smart enough not to choose the shrimp and grits.

So there you have it: My exciting return to the world of blogging.

In case you missed it, I just managed to fill an entire yakabout with 432 words
and say absolutely nothing.

Apparently, I'm back.

*****

Happy New Year, folks!

So...what did you do for New Year's Eve?

Good morning and HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I am sure glad your back...didn't do much over here that's for sure. Went to out for an early dinner with hubby to one of our favorite places, came home and put a movie on, dozed a little bit while pretending to watch and went to bed, haha. Today we will dismantle Christmas. Enjoy your day!

Delightful! Just the kind of chatter I love. I was very impressed with your analysis of blogging. I have found that I also prefer to be blogging. I get a little down when I feel as if I have nothing to say, but you have shown me how to overcome that! Don't mind me, I was awake much of the night because of loud neighbors partying with fireworks for hours. I'm taking a nap today! I'll do better next time. A Happy New Year to you!

Happy Happy New Year to you Debbie. Ours was thrilling ~ jigsaw puzzle and movie. I think we are officially old:-)
So glad you are returning to blogging. Maybe I will too.

So far off to a great start! I feel very very good about 2014! My birthday is the 14th so always a special and favorite number for me. My mom was partial to 7, and I did not know it was biblically perfect! Leave it to my mom. Lol. I find that without photos blogging is nothing but rambling. Can't wait to get back. xo

I am so glad to see you back! I have done the same thing, been there, left, and missed the fellowship. It's a super precious bunch of ladies, and you were missed. I tend to blog a little less than when I began, and yet it's just fun to share, even if it is a little more random than it used to be.

I'm a recovering flu victim, hit the 25th, so like most Dec. 31 nights, last night was not noteworthy! But today is a new day!! :)

Welcome back Debbie, I've missed you.

Welcome back!

We had my parents and niece over, my son was here too and some friends. We ate, talked, some played games, and let LIndsay open her birthday gifts after the ball dropped!

Looking forward to seeing your blog pop up more often!

YAY!!! What a wonderful gift for the New Year!

The Great Debbie Drought of 2013 is over!

I'm so happy I could practically come through my computer screen and give you a big ol' hug.

I will look forward to anything and everything you yak about - even if it's nothing. Nothing from you is a far better thing than something from most people - just sayin'...

What did I do for New Year's Eve? Well, the husband and I went to a little dinner party with some neighbors, and I actually made it to midnight! Of course, this was followed by a New Year's Day that was not rockin' - mostly it was nappin'...

It's gonna be a good year, friend - I can't wait to journey along with you!

GOD BLESS!

Welcome back! My year is off to a great start, too. After a quiet New Year's Eve, I spent the first day of the new year hanging out with Renaissance Man and taking down the Christmas tree. And this morning? Well, it's only 9:20, and I've been to the gym (hoping to get into a routine!), eaten breakfast, had my quiet time, and am dressed for the day. Just checked email before heading out to run errands and your post from yesterday was sitting here waiting on me. What a nice treat!

Hi Debbie,
It's good to have you yakking again and giving me something to smile about. Dinner with your hubby sounded fun. I cooked lobster tails for my son that's living with me for his New Year's Eve birthday. I set a picture of my beloved, with a candle, to cherish our 43 years together.
Happy New Year, my friend! xo

2014 is certainly starting out great - with Words back on Wheels! I'm so glad you're back. But oh, how I feel like Chicken Little. I know I should take a long blog break and get some stuff done around the house. I've tried before though, and I was back within a couple of weeks. I'm afraid I'm addicted to Blogville. I know I'm addicted to Words on Wheels. I've been in withdrawal without it. laurie

Seems we just need more hours and more energy in a day. Yippee!! Still dancing the happy dance... looking forward to seeing more of you in 2014. blessings and hugs ~ tanna

YAY!!!!!!!!!
Chickie was sick from spicy Indian food, so we did nothing. Ate some leftovers, those of us who were eating. I think I had a bowl of granola.
Was in bed before 10pm.
So I'd say that we would get the Mr. Fuddy and Mrs. Duddy award.

WOOO HOOO! I'm ready to throw confetti in your honor :)
My New Year's Eve was very quiet. (see photo on blog)
But nowadays, I tend to prefer it that way.
Looking forward to hearing about your color and all things going on in your life.
Did the Duchess put up all of her trees this year?

I am glad you are back and glad that I am back too. I won't mix things up by commenting here on your last few entries, but I sure do agree with you!

I had been feeling like Chicken Little, but not about my closets...we won't discuss them...but about doomsayers that were getting me down.

Hopefully I have learned what and where not to read or listen to, and have my happy mojo back. What a convoluted sentence that was! And just what is a mojo anyway??

New Year's Eve was just the two of us at home, no snacks since dinner had been later than usual, and a drink to toast the changing of the calendar. Very quiet, but also very satisfying.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

Sitting here watching a complete day FULL of Westerns with the husband and had a thought that maybe, just maybe, after our conversation on Wednesday, that there was a new blog post. Can I just say yippee skippee!! I have missed your wonderful words. Well, printed words. I am fortunate to hear your words on a regular basis. Looking forward to a wonderful 2014, too.

My NYE was pretty much the same as always. However, we came home early after dinner and went to bed before 10. I did wake up just before midnight to see the ball drop.

Glad to see you back to blogging. I know how much you missed it.

Yay you're back!!! Look how you've been missed - I missed you!!

Yes, I often grapple with the whole blogging thing. I often think I'd get more done and have more time to do other things. But after blogging all these years I'm not sure I can turn off the part of me that sees and thinks like a blogger! :)
