And all through the house...
Only a blogger would bother with computer and mouse.
It's been distracting, all right...
This year, the holiday itself has been full of distractions.
I can't recall a holiday season since the girls were little that kept me so busy.
Like the big elf himself, this is my first free morning in weeks
to sit down, take off the boots and hat...
And share some previously promised pictures
of the Duchess's Christmas Story.
In case you can't figure it out, her theme was
The Day After Christmas, too.
The Day After Christmas, too.
Contrary to my conspicuous absence in Blog Land,
I actually had a very merry Christmas.
I actually had a very merry Christmas.
By the 22nd, I had two little dears resting under my roof, too.
And on Christmas Eve, I had another Great Birthday Adventure.
Turning over 50 may not seem as festive as last year's Golden Jubilee,
but it is when you dub it a Fifty- Onederful Birthday Celebration
and create a theme song to go along with it.
(I'd sing it for you, but according to The Practical One, it gets stuck in your head and won't go away.)
So that's what has been happening in my neck of the Christmas woods.
How was your Christmas?

Ok, what does the Duchess do with the previous season's decor? Does she reuse them, ever? I loved her garland from last year so much that I copied it! LOL!
This is a cute scene, too...are the upstairs windows also decorated? She really goes all out! Love it.
Glad to hear you had a good Christmas! Ours was fun and almost as perfect as one could get.
Cheers!
Debbie, the Duchess' house is just amazing -- I LOVE, LOVE it!!! What a treat for the kids (of ALL ages, I'm betting) in her community every year. I can't get over all the detail she has incorporated into this cute story on the porch. The curtains, the fireplace, decorated tree, every little thing just adds to the story. How wonderful that she does this, and now I can see who you get your creativity and talent from. Does she have some assistance in setting everything up from the daughters and sons-in-law? What a nice family you all are!
I've missed you during the holidays and am glad to see you back in blogland. Happy Birthday (two days late) and I'm really glad you had such a wonderful Christmas!
Blessings,
Denise
The Dutchess did an awesome job, her house is adorable. Also wishing you birthday blessings througout the year ahead. Glad you enjoyed Christmas with all your dears. xo
Like you my boots are off and I am barefoot and out and about in blogland today, enjoying this free time.
The Duchess is amazing, I adore all her themes, I am feeling like Santa today needed the pepto, since i over indulged Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day at my moms!
Wishing you and your dear family a most blessed and happy new year.
Hugs,
Sue
Congratulations on turning Fifty-Onederful! You have such a marvelous way with words. And congratulations on your blog anniversary, too. I am in awe of you and the duchess and your Christmas decorating. I wish I was your real life neighbor.
I feel like the Duchess's Santa today...too much good food, too little sleep. And yet, I'm still thinking maybe I need to check out Target's after Christmas sale. Crazy, I am. :)
Happy anniversary and Fifty-Onederful. I always look forward to your posts, looking forward to your words and wit in 2013.
Oh how Wonderful! I know two fifty onederfuls...Must tell the other. You started to blog the day after Christmas? Are you nuts? No need for an answer. I'm just very glad that you did. Happy Blogiversary!
(Yes, Christmas was a delight.)
Great story at the Duchess's home!
Glad you decided to blog! And happy birthday!
It is snowing big time here today!

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday my YOUNG friend!! I so love your blogs, and your writing has warmed my heart and challenged me so many times. Happy 2013!!! You are one of those 'special ones'!!!
xo
I just love the Duchess's decor. Precious! Happy, Happy Birthday!
Sounds like you had a holly, jolly Christmas! I'm so glad!! And HOW ON EARTH did I forget your birthday??? (No excuse...) Debbie, I hope it was a wonderful celebration of the special gift of YOU - I just know that God has BIG plans for you this year. I can't wait to watch Him unveil them. (51? A whippersnapper...)
My Christmas was different this year - only me and the husband. But I am heading down today to spend some days with the sons and Marty. It's all about the time spent, not when it's spent - just sayin'!
GOD BLESS!
That Duchess of ours truly does an amazing job, doesn't she? You forgot to mention she won grand prize overall this year and she did most of the decorating herself. (As far as I know, we only helped move Santa and the Mrs. to the porch for her). LOVED how you captured the blue hour.
Looking forward to fifty-wonderful more years with you. Think we can make 102 and 103? I sure hope so.
We actually got snowed in on Christmas Day which almost never happens in these parts. It was fine by me. I loved the snow and getting to snuggle in by the fire. Glad you had a Merry Christmas too!!!
Happy Birthday, Debbie! Fifty-onederful....why didn't I know that in May?? But 51 is indeed wonderful.
Just like 50 was.
The Duchess has outdone herself again!

Merry Christmas, Happy B-Day and Happy Blogaversary!!! Wow, there's a lot going on down south! Glad you had a nice Christmas, we did too. I'm just sitting here wrapped in my new Slanket enjoying the calm of the day after:@)
Debbie- so glad you had a good Christmas and Happy Birthday! The Dutchess had such a great decor idea by doing the day after Christmas. This was a fun post! Thanks for sharing :)
Love, LOVE this! Happy (belated) birthday and Blogaversary!
Miz Dutchess' "day after" theme is fabulous!!!
Happy 51st birthday....your decorations are so pretty...Happy 3rd also
First of all - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
And the decorations are amazing. Does she do it all herself? From ideas to the actual decorations?
I have to say you have real artistic talent in your family.
She did good.
And happy blog anniversary - I'm glad you started one three years ago.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas.
Happy Fifty, Onederful!
*hugs*

Happy Birthday!!! You are officially fifty-FUN.
Our Christmas was delightful. Full of naps, a walk and movies and spending the entire day at HOME together. What a blessing.
Enjoy the time with your girls!

Happy Birthday and Happy Blog Anniversary! I'm so glad you decided you needed a blog. You're one of a very few who make me, consistently, laugh, and what a wonderful gift that is. So, thank you, sweet friend. Thanks ever so much!
P.S. And thanks for being a prayer partner ... that's even more special than making me laugh.
Happy Belated Birthday, Debbie!! And, Happy Blogaversary!! I'm so glad you decided to take that plunge into blogland!! You are a delight to me! Wishing you and yours all the best 2013 has to offer! hugs and blessings ~ tanna
Your mom is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing her porch. And does she keep her stuff and reuse and WHERE does she keep it all?
And, happy birthday, merry christmas, and happy anniversary to one of my very favorite bloggers.
Hi Debbie, wow, the Duchess sure does a wonderful job of decorating. I love all the special detail she does and what fun for the neighborhood. Happy belated birthday wishes to you.
Happy Birthday. I remember when I was 48 and worried for two years about turning 50. The whole thing was very silly. Now I celebrate my age since many of my friends have passed on and I am still here.
SO cute!!!! I love how Santa is soaking his feet!!! That's hilarious! The Duchess really outdid herself again! Congratulations on your blog anniversary! Yeah...that is a little crazy to start your blog the day right after Christmas, but it makes sense!!! I had kind of a "let down" after I finally finished all the decorating this year, and I had nothing to fill in the gap. You were smart to fill it in this way 3 years ago!!! Have a great New Year, and be safe!!!!!!
What a poet you are!~ We had a very nice Christmas. Just relaxing all Christmas day and watching movies together. It was perfect. I have been blogging for three years coming up in January. Hard to believe! Happy New Year Debbie.
I've never seen such a fabulous display! Every detail is perfection. This is just amazing!
Wishing you a happy and blessed new year. It's going to be a blast!
Hugs,
Patti
Hiya, Deb! So you've been sparse in Blogland, too! Haven't been here since Thanksgiving for all the hustle and bustle of classes ending, dinner parties, shopping and what-all that comes with the Christmas holidays. But, of course, what you did find time to post this month hits the spot. Love The Duchess' story this year - remember the shots from last year. You guys must be the MOST creative collection of mothers, daughters, and sisters!
Happy Blogoversary AND Birthday also seem to be in order! Blessings to you on both scores! So glad you decided to take up a hobby in Blogland three years ago - so glad we've gotten to know each other. You're a constant source of inspiration and chuckles. May you be blessed with more delightful yaks in this fast approaching new year!
Joy!
Kathy

Happy belated Birthday and Blog Anniversary Debbie!
The Duchess' Christmas decorations are just amazing! Poor Santa indeed! The epsom salts are such a cute touch! The curtains, the fireplace and tree, everything is just wonderful!
