Warning:
This highly intellectual literary allusion will escape you if you didn't spend hour after hour watching Winnie the Pooh videos with your toddler.
But for those of you who did...
The rain rain rain
came down down down
We've been at it since yesterday, and the today was more of the same.
Tomorrow isn't looking so good, either
Now, I don't know what you do when you feel like a rained in P-Piglet,
but I like to hunker down and scrounge around for something to eat.
That's because in the Hundred Acre Woods, I'm actually more of a Pooh. So much so, in fact, that I have to find something to keep myself occupied, lest Pooh get stuck in a tight place.
So here's what I've been occupying myself with this time. It's some of that small stuff that I'm sweating for the summer. Have I ever mentioned that I like to buy random junk at the ReStore and make it into other junk?

Yeah, I think I have.
The random junk
1 gold plastery dish thing $.50
1 glass shade thing $.75
1 votive holder
(Yes, I know there are 3 votive holders. They came as a set.) I didn't pay anything for them. The ReStore lady threw them in for free because, in her words, "You buy so much junk here."
I'm not sure whether I should take that as a compliment or not...
But anyway....
It all ended up looking like this, which is quite cloche-y, don't you think?
Sorry. Rainy days = lousy pictures.
Sorry. Rainy days = lousy pictures.
I used E-6000 epoxy on the glass parts and some Heirloom White spray paint on the stand. Oh sure, it's not perfect, but when I put it next to the real deal, it looks cloche enough. Not too shabby for $1.25.
Of course, what I'm putting in it, I'm not sure yet.
I'm still in thetrial and error stage.
I'm thinking something summery for my mantel,
probably with seashells.

But then again, I might just go all Pooh Bear and do something like this.
Nah. Just kidding.
Willy, nilly, silly old bear...
So what do you do to occupy yourself
when the rain rain rain
comes
down down down?

take a nap, read a good book, snuggle up in bed with a book, jump in the puddles, movie, yawn.
ha. ha!! ( :
To tell you the truth I wouldn't know...it seems as if it barely ever rains in California. Certainly not in the summer time that's for sure. And boy, could we use it! But in the winter time IF it should rain a little here and there I like to sew, (course I do that rain or shine!) read, and unfornately I like to bake and then eat...sigh. There's always movies or napping too. ; ) Liked your little cloche btw, and especially your price tag. Your always soo creative!
I rummage for and think about food. Oh, wait, I do that when it's sunny too!
Great inspiration, Debbie!
Ditto what Carol said! lol xo
Your little cloche-y project turned out so cute! I'm sure you will fill it up with something summery in no time-enjoy:@)
Your project turned out great!
We're expecting 3 days of rain. Flood watch the rest of the week.
Sometimes the rain makes me want to just read and watch movies and other times I feel like actually tackling something I've been avoiding (since I can't go out and garden).
I continue to be amazed at your crafty little self! This was really cute - especially with the honey pot inside!
What do I like to do on a rainy day? Read, do crosswords, and put together jigsaw puzzles. The husband and I completed a 1,000 piece puzzle all in one day yesterday. No, it wasn't raining - we were just bored.
xo
You are so funny! I keep busy with my little blog. Reading. TV. I love to go to the thrift shops. Call my sister - blah - blah - blah! sandie
Super cute cloche! Send the rain our way we're roasting here. :)
Have a very happy fourth of July!
It looks like you are getting the rain (Seattle's) that we usually get.
As someone who lives in rain most of the year, you have done well!
With all the rain, you won't have to moisturize as much!
That's so cool Debbie! As someone who loves a good bargain, I can really appreciate your outstanding gift for re-imagining the "junk" others might ignore.
As for rainy days...we need some more around here. And if one happened to come my way I would probably be found reading a book, watching an old movie or pecking on computer keys. And possibly baking something that's not good for me. : )
Debbie, I love the little honey pot in there! Very Poohish. ;)
I knit and knit and knit.. LOL! blessings ~ tanna
OKAY! first things first, I think I will let you keep the rain for now, we have plenty around here as a matter of fact way to much, and if you need some more I will be willing to share.
You did a great job with your cloche, What do I do when it is raining, today it is raining and I will be canning tomatoes. ~smile~ Wanna help me?
hugs,
Sue
Hi Debbie,
Your "cloche-y thing" turned out really cute!! :-D What a clever idea!
I really love your Pooh references; I watched those videos with our son, too. Those are just the sweetest stories, and I still love the illustrations. I'm so glad you shared these -- brings back good memories. :)
We're about to be waterlogged here; I know I shouldn't complain, but it's starting to get a bit tiresome. When it rains and rains here, I like to read, take naps, and dream about food. :)
Have a wonderful Fourth of July, Debbie!!!
Hugs,
Denise
Just bought my first tube of E6000. I'll be looking at the junk pile with new eyes. Your project turned out very well. Personally, I like the Pooh vignette very much. Rain? It rained nearly every day of June. It's rained every day of July (I know it's early yet) and I have probably gained ten pounds.
Well, here in sunny TX we seldom have that problem. In fact, I have the opposite one, the sun and the pool and the books keep calling to me, and so I am getting NOTHING done.
But, it's fun:-)
{love your newest project}
Well, this is the FUNEST thing...:)
I adore your little project...and it turned out sooo cute.
nOW, as for the rain...oh, how we would love love LOVE to have a full day of rain, much less DAYS of it.
It is my favorite thing in the whole world and I feel better when it rains than any other time. I love to S.L.E.E.P. and E.A.T. during a rainy day....:)
Same ole same ole here with the rain. Its' really putting a damper:) on things around here for parties. Btw, all that glass goodies you scored sure would look good with some mod and rit. Happy 4th to you.
We've had tons of rain my way! Front porch rocker and a cup of coffee for me! LOL! Happy 4th!
Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Oh, i remember those Winnie the Pooh videos with my girls... Rainy at our house, too. Lately I've been cleaning out files and reading. Blogging a little. I also whipped up a couple "Made in USA" t-shirts for the grandsons' 4th of July. I'm enjoying the nest being empty again. I hope to get to some crafty remakes (like your cute cloche) soon. I have lots of junk to turn into smiles, too.
It's been rain, rain, raining here too. Sigh.
So I've been working on the younger girls (ages 14 and nearly 11) bedroom - teaching them to paint and we bought new curtains today!
I also bought some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to play with.
I love what you did...it looks very cloche like.
Deanna
thank you Debbie for your VERY sweet comment! We are getting the rain for sure. My Sweetie said "gee maybe the drought wasn't so bad " ha ha.

Love Pooh! Some of my favorite quotes are from that silly old bear. We've been splashing around in our rain gear for a week and a half, saying "tut, tut it looks like rain..." Love your rainy-day ingenuity and your honey pot under glass :) Hope you dry out soon, our Independence Day celebration will be soggy!
What a HONEY of a post! Love your wit and creativity. It is more than cloche, it's a nifty thrifty success!
Happy 4th of July!
Patti
Oh how we loved Pooh and Piglet! You've certainly been a busy Pooh Bear with your crafty cloche. You have such a great eye for that refurbishing. LOVE it. Especially the price.
Thanking the Lord for our abundance of rain. I know drought and it's not fun. I'm sure my cowboy would like this weather a little more interspersed with some sunshine, but he's not complaining. I love to read, do puzzles/games, sew and bake when it rains.
Maybe our next project might need to be oars. What can you scrounge up for that?
I do just as you did - make something. Except that I usually sew or stitch. Your cloche project turned out well - and the Pooh vignette is adorable.
Oh girl, it's been raining non-stop here too. I think we have several more days of it left.
I love your cloche. You put things together just beautifully.
Any dream sharing going on????
Blessings to you dear friend.
Oh Debbie, it's brilliant! What creativity. I love the way you put those things together and made a beautiful cloche and stand. And, by the way, I think it IS perfect! Love Pooh, and I love that the lady in the store said that to you! I am very well known at junk stores in my area. laurie
Ouu Debbie! That is so creative! I would never have thought of using the votive for the top. The store cashiers comment still has me chuckling. From one junker to another I say, it's a compliment! I have been trying to stay busy too on these rainy days or I will end up like Pooh as well. You did good!
Rain or shine missionary work occupies much of my time these days. I do get to have lots of family time too, so life is good and I'm feeling the sweetness of being a worker-bee! Thanks for a great post Debbie and a cute idea!
Repurposing is such fun for me too. Although I must admit I have to "see" it somewhere else first to be inspired. Hm...like your blog. I still have a few projects to work on as I "copy" you and your cute, cute ideas! Looks like rain here today so perhaps I will be a busy little bee!
(As always, thanks for loads of inspiration!)
We get so many rainy days over here that life just goes on regardless. We just do what we've got to do. Right now we're in the middle of a heatwave and it feels good.
Nobody would ever believe your cloche started off as junk. It looks very fancy to me now. I wonder what you'll find to go under it? Hope you show us.
