Simply Parking

This week's simple pleasure is going to be uncharacteristically brief.  For reasons which will remain unyakked, I have found myself eyebrow deep in an "assignment" which has consumed most of my waking hours since Monday morning. I could use your prayers.

I'm feeling tired
and drained
and a bit anxious because it's not finished yet.

And in the middle of it all, I had the need to go to
that place...
You know the one.
The place that steals my giggle.

But when I pulled Ebenezer into the very crowded parking lot, I had cause to smile. Right there... waiting for me as if it had my name on it was the coveted parking position. You know the one... It's the one right in front of the main door and just beyond all of the reserved signs.  I could hardly believe it. I breathed a word of thanksgiving.

 I pulled in,
 parked the car,
and I had *the moment*.

(That's as good as my parking gets.)

Now, if you're thinking that  my simple pleasure this week was finding the perfect spot at Walmart, on a day when both Walmart and Debbie were busy, you would be wrong. That's pretty pleasurable all right, but that parking space is actually not my simple pleasure.

I'm busy.
I'm tired.
And I'm 48.
So this week's simple pleasure was knowing that
on top of it all...
I wasn't  parking in this one.

simple pleasures.

Yeah, that's one parking spot best avoided. ;)

Soooo funny! You can bet we're HAPPY to pass that spot at our age. (Even if I'm 50 and you are not...still too old for all of that). Made me laugh out loud. Really.

Joan Hall said...

Debbie - thanks for the chuckle. I would NOT want to park in that reserved spot at my age either. Saying a prayer for you today. I saw you are teaching at a women's conference. Pray that God uses you to reach many.

Blessings,
Joan

LOL, yeah, I wouldn't be lovin that space either. I hope your tired and anxiousness passes quickly - get some rest, you'll feel better.

Hahahaha! I love it!

I will tell you what...that spot has caused a rift or two between that husband of mine and me. Even when I'm beyond pregnant I outright refuse to park there. Sam thinks this is ridiculous. Either way, I genuinely relate. I don't want to park there right now either! ;)

Amen!
God bless your project and give you rest.
Debbie, I love reading your blog!

Well as one who has long walked the years of fertility issues, I would be more than happy to park in that spot...probably wouldn't, though, as I generally try to park as far away as possible so I can get that desperately needed exercise in my life. (Without a gym membership, I have to exercise when and where I can.)

Have a wonderful day!!

Hugs,
Patti

Funny! But I am sorry to say that if I were a few years younger, no one would even question me about parking there. I think you get my drift!

I'm smiling big my friend! You made my day!

Oh Debbie! I just keep likin' you more and more! :-) Do you have a love/hate relationship with Wal-Mart too? I told my husband that sometimes when I pull in to the parking lot I notice my shoulders sagging a little with defeat! I love the deals but don't love the lines and the madness that sometimes goes along with the good prices. Hope your week gets better and that you can find some pockets of calm in the midst of it all...I have a bad cold if that makes you feel any better! :-)

Dear Debbie, all tired and worn out that you are, you succeeded in making me roar with laughter, and I think I love you for that. This was a joy from start to finish and whatever it is that has you tired and worn out, well, I'm praying for you today, my friend, and I'm honored that you took time out of your very busy week to attend my little party today. You rock!

And what's this about a women's conference? Do tell.

Here I am L-aughing, not L-aundary-ing, (spell check won't touch it) and wishing you lived across the street so I could dash over and help you finish your project! All my homework is done and turned in for this week...and I have a solid A, so I'm searching for ways to serve others and that is my simple pleasure!!!! You are just living right! Hugs your way....

Renée said...

OK, so I'm stoked about my A's...please delete the one from Laundry-ing and have a great day!

Janean said...

i laughed so hard!

ah the memories: stretched, cranky, having to wee-wee, swollen feet.

add to that having to walk miles in wal-mart - then go home and actually UNLOAD the stuff?

i need a cookie just thinking about it. :)

AMEN Sista! I sigh a hugh sigh of relief everytime I see a beautiful pregnant belly. Oh, how I love those little babies and I would love to smooch on one, but thank you Lord that I'm not pregnant! Praise God!

Um, Wal-mart stole my giggles this morning too. UGH! The lines in that place are HORRIBLE!

Oh, TOO FUNNY!

Why am I not surprised at your parking ability (lack of) - it goes along with your delightfully "crooked" sense of humor!! :)

You know, even after I "officially" hit menopause, it still took a long time to get over fearing that Wal-Mart sign (if you know what I mean?!) There just comes a time in life when you're DONE wearing Omar's little "tents!"

Deb - YOU are my simple pleasure! (That didn't quite sound right, but you know what I mean...)

Oh my gosh - you had me going - I didn't know where you were going - that was fabulous - and I couldn't agree with you more! Love it - love you!

This, too, shall pass!
I'm with you 100% on the silly thrill I get, discovering a prime parking spot. Great simple pleasure :)

Kelli said...

You have my prayers for strength to complete the "assignment!" I wish I would have parked in those spaces when I was pregnant, but I was always embarrassed. Not sure why...just didn't want to bring more attention to my big ol' self!

Unknown said...

Friend, I'm with you on that one!! I've been there three times myself, my duty is done!!! Thanks for taking the time to visit, sorry I'm so late getting back to you, it's jsut been a crazy day here. Have a blessed and safe weekend!

Haha! You made me giggle! I'm hoping to avoid that spot for a bit longer this time around! Having a just-now 2 year old and a 4 month old - umm.... not so soon!

LOL!!! I so agree! I was just thinking about that subject the other day whilst standing behind a woman with a screaming child. I'm glad those days are over for me.

I've never noticed the expectant mother's sign at Walmart. Guess I'd have a tough time talking my way out of ticket if I parked there.

Tired, drained, anxious but still showing your sense of humor. Way to go! You're covered with pray from me, also.
