Simply Blooming

It's been a while since I posted a simple pleasure, but today I had a discovery too nice to leave unyakked.

As I looked out the kitchen window this morning,
 I discovered this.

No, they aren't birds.
They're buds.

Those are the lower branches of our Japanese Magnolia.

Since the bottom of our tree generally lags a few days behind the top of it,
I had a hunch what was going on up above.
I went outside to look, and yep...

She's blooming, all right...

Isn't  she lovely?
Makes me want to set a pink table.

Yeah, I know it's really too early for the blossoms. There's probably some Arctic blast headed our way to zap her into oblivion before she reaches her full potential. That's the way it usually rolls around here.

All the more reason to stop cleaning and crafting
and take a stroll outside with a shiny red Kodak.

So that's exactly what I did.

Enjoying the pink while it lasts is this week's simple pleasure.

Hi Debbie,

We have one of these trees in front of our dining room window. I'm going to go outside and check the status on it now. :)

They are a bit on the delicate side, aren't they? We've been in this house going on 16 yrs. now, and we've only had it bloom really nicely about every three years or so. You're right; it is too early for them to bloom. I saw some Japanese Cherry trees blooming in Greensboro (east of us) earlier this week.

Love these pictures; thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend!

What a beautiful tree! I've always wanted one of those. Maybe I'll plant one this spring.

I don't know what's going on but even my roses are in bud. Like you say, we could very well still get a cold snap and kill all of the blossoms or maybe we've just skipped winter this year (scary thought).

So funny, but I have done and re-done my hutch the past couple of weeks, finding fault with everything and just today I decided to forego the all white look, Valentine's decorations, and do it up with my magnolia dishes as I am ready for spring! Even though we are having a very blessed winter so far. Enjoy them for however long they are around. Carpe diem! xo

Such a lovely tree and a wonderful simple pleasure. Glad you took the time to notice it. I've been noticing my daffodils blooming, too. I probably need to take a stroll around the yard and check everything else. I think a pink table in January would be wonderful. Just sayin'...

What a nice surprise! I need to look at mine to see if it's doing anything. Poor thing struggled this past summer because of the drought. I don't know if it's even alive now.
Have a great weekend and thanks for sharing your Japanese Magnolia.

Oh, so pretty! Funny, I really did think I was first looking at birds. They certainly would make for a gorgeous centerpiece for a pink tablescape but I think I'd be sooo hesitant to cut any from the branches too! Thanks so much for sharing this. Simply beautiful indeed!

So beautiful and so early too. Magnolias are very classy don't you think? We have one (a cream petal variety) in our front garden but we'll have to wait a long time yet before we see any blooms on it.

How pretty! I am always torn between joyful surprise when something blooms early and a twinge of sadness knowing the bloom isn't likely to last when cold returns. Glad you caught this with your camera and shared it with all of us!

God does some of His best work in PINK, in my humble opinion! I love how He gives us little signs of the coming springtime, even in the middle of winter.

Hmmm...

Kinda like He does in life, huh?!

GOD BLESS!
