Smarter Than The Av-er-age Bear

As I mentioned yesterday, we had cause for a celebration around here this weekend.  It was a big one, too, big enough to lure a Practical One all the way from Capitol Hill.  It wasn't a Mothers Day celebration, either.  The fact that it happened to fall on that weekend was just a God thing.

(Thanks, God.)

No, big sister came home for a celebration of different sort.
It was an auspicious occasion.

Care to guess what it was?

Well, it's May...
and it took place at Mercer University...
and somebody was wearing a funny hat...

... which according to all the smarty pants business majors in the family
is bedecked with a tassel of "drab".

Drab? Seriously?

Maybe to the rest of the world, it's drab
I choose to call it taupe instead.

There was nothing whatsoever drab about our celebration.

There's nothing drab about our girl, either.
She's our Miss Whimsy, the little girl most likely to dance in the rain.

The girl who was just graduating from high school when I started writing this blog.

Didn't we just move her and that zebra print bedding into the freshman dorm yesterday?

Yeah, I think so too.

One final chat with Jesse Mercer

Then it was time to step out and join
the rest of the Mercer graduates in the family.

What we lack in creativity, we make up for in loyalty.

Congratulations  Miss Whimsy...

You did it!

The sky's the limit.

Now go follow the rest of your dreams.

And as they say in Mercer Land....

We love you and are so proud of you!

Auspicious occasion indeed! We certainly had a wonderful weekend celebrating with our Miss Whimsy. So very proud of her and especially her drab tassel. (said one business major to another) Hoping for a wonderful future for our newest Mercer grad!

I can't believe I'm the first comment and I get to say, "Congratulations to Miss Whimsy and the wonderful Mom who raised her!"

Thanks for sharing the exciting news of this "auspicious" occasion and letting us celebrate with you.

I'm doing a quick 'hop in' today and checking out my blogging buddies. I wouldn't have missed this for the world!! How can it be? It really DOES seem like last month that you were doing her room for her new college adventure! Congratulations to the graduate, and blessings on the billfolds of her mom and dad. :)

Now the real fun begins, and I pray for God's leading to His perfect 'next' for her.

LOVED the pictures!

Wow seems like just yesterday you were moving her! Congratulations & how exciting for her!

I echo the above and say wasn't it just last week when we were oooing and aaahing over her zebra dorm? She must have rushed through in 2 years or so.
It has been a joy to share these past years with you and your Miss Whimsy and I wish her all the best as she enters this next phase of life. {and she looks just like her mama with brown hair;-)}
I know you had the happiest of Mother's Days.

How exciting-congrats! Wishing her all the best:@)

Congratulations to the whole family! But especially to Miss Whimsy. A great accomplishment indeed. You know, I could just hear your heart pounding all the way here in California, as it was about to burst with pride!

Can't wait to follow along for the next phase in life! And I'm so glad that you had a wonderful Mother's Day - for, of course, you are a wonderful mother!

someone has been sitting in that seat for way too long. he is has turned to stone. wonder if that is where that saying did arrive or come from? i love the quote in the stone - so perfect!! i hope she has a clear plan. what fun!! ( :

Wow ... now, I'm feeling 'glad all over', as well? Miss Whimsy's smile is contagious, isn't it?

Perhaps you mentioned Mercer U. before and I was asleep in class ... but now I'm so tickled to 'know' (sort-of) not one, but two alums! See, my biggest claim to fame in the office is having picked Mercer in this year's bracket. (This, from a lady who's never watched a b-ball game in her life.)

I digress, horribly. Congratulations to all y'all!

I remember when she moved into the dorm. :} Congratulations to her and to mom and dad!

PS...The dress on my blog came from TJ Maxx. It's just too short to be a dress so I bought a slip with extra lace on the bottom to go underneath. Got the slip from Altar'd State.

Well, a hearty if a little late, congratulations to the one most likely to dance in the rain! Your daughters are both beautiful and a credit to you and Sir Lotsahair. Lovely photos of the auspicious occasion too.

And going back to your comment on my blog re: Hilton Head - If I'd have known you lived round the corner I would've picked your brains on the whole trip. It was a tennis convention that caused our problems. What a beautiful place you live in. Do you ever go to the beach? I wouldn't be able to stay away from it if I lived near a stretch of coast line like that.

I'm off to catch up on the rest of your blog now.
