...that's why we invited you.
Party Poop-er.
Not only have I attended more than my personal quota of blog parties lately, but it's also party season in Dixie. Beginning about two weeks ago, I have been on a nonstop party bus to everything from luncheons to weddings. My house is a bit of a mess, and I'm worn out. Marathon yakabouts can be very exhausting.
If there's one thing even more exhausting than attending a party, it's throwing one.
There's something more exhausting that that, too, and it's helping the Duchess throw one of hers. That's because the Duchess never throws a party. Noooooo. The Duchess hosts an event.
For large numbers of people...
At some random outside location...
To which the slave labor she procreated must haul
food, linen, flowers, and every manner of creative dishery.
When we're finished? We have to haul it all the way back home again.
Such was the case this week as she hosted a reception for a local political candidate. After all that fixing and lugging and decorating and serving and hauling back home again, do you know what I wanted to do?
I wanted to set up a yet another table for Cuisine Kathleen's beach table challenge.
At a random outside location.
Yes, I realize that the pool is not the beach,
but it's watery so out we went.
but it's watery so out we went.
Actually, the we this time the we was mostly I. The other two have common sense. The Farm Sister forked over some blue place mats and a vase and headed home to get caught up. The Duchess provided just about everything else on the table. Then she retired to the shade to watch from a distance.
I lasted about ten minutes poolside before I decided to drag the entire table into the shade with her.
That's where it ended up.
Ours is not exactly beach themed, but it is designed around something
at the sea shore.
That counts, right?
at the sea shore.
That counts, right?
The Duchess found these lighthouse dishes over a year ago at a local thrift store. They actually have bowls and mugs as well, but we didn't use them. It's summer and southeast Georgia. Not even the invisible people are interested in hot chocolate and chowder.
The only thing on the entire table that belongs to me is the set of red salad plates which you can barely see.
The rest was pilfered from the Duchy.
Actually, these cute little napkin rings
are the whole reason that I wanted to do the table.
That's the same set of stemware as last week, but it belongs to her. We each have a set of it. (Belk, about two years ago) That way we can combine it for larger
We each have a set of the red flatware too.
Same reason.
If I were not too tired to join the tip party, I would give you that tip of the day.
Buy some of the same table stuff as close friends and family,
and pool your resources.

Well, that's all I've got, and I'm too pooped to provide more.
Plus, I need to get caught up and rested up. You see, this coming weekend I have another very special event to celebrate.
I won't say what it is, but after 28 years of being married to a party girl, I don't think Sir Lotsa Hair will appreciate it if the party pooper shows up instead.

You did a fantastic job! Everything is pulled together so perfectly! Thanks for sharing!
It is so great to have pooled resources, and red white and blue always says summer and beachy things to me. The lighthouse napkin rings are adorable. And Happy 28th Anniversary! xo
Debbie~ Those cute napkin rings would be reason enough for me to set a table too! Love the dishes and lighthouse centerpiece! Glad you weren't too pooped to party~ everything looks beautiful poolside! Hope you were able to take a dip & relax :)
Morning Debbie,
Love your tablescape and all the effort you went to just to do it.
It came out great for such a tired lady! lol
Love the lighthouse theme and those napkin rings are darling. Love your red stemware and that is a great tip,
just wish I knew someone else in the family that liked doing tables, am hoping that my daughter will soon get into that now that she is married and has her own home.
Thanks for sharing and for working so hard to do it..........
Now....get some rest, we can't have a party pooper Anniversary!!
and Congratulations on 28 years, love to hear that especially today.
Happy Anniversary, hope yall have a delightfully wonderful time celebrating.
Blessings, Nellie
1. I'm pooped out my blog.
2. I loved your beautiful table.
3. See #1.
Bye for awhile. You may have to be in lighthouse to find me.
Signed,
Your blog-burnt-out blogger buddy
Wow, I thought I was busy!
Love the waterside table. Fabulous attention to detail!
Oh I really like that tip about buying some of the same stuff as your friends or family. Your table is calling to me. Love the reds and blues...stunning.
I know exactly what you mean about having to haul all your stuff for an event away from home...oye!
Hope you get some rest before the next event this weekend.
You can borrow some of my stuff....
I totally feel ya on the pooped part! I took a blog break last week, but I'm still not totally rejuvenated. I, too, hauled out a ton of crap...uh, stuff...for an event yesterday, and that just brought me right back to square 1 in the pooped department! (Isn't it funny how our Mothers with all these political affiliations get US sucked into it somehow??!?!!) THIS table is wonderful!!!! It definitely counts as a beach table, and I just love the lighthouse napkin rings! Wonderful find on those lighthouse plates, too. The Duchess must have been quite delighted to have found those! Your flowers are looking quite fetching, too. The "invisible people" would be crazy to want chowder or hot chocolate or anything above the temperature of a popscicle in this insufferable heat!!!!! Great table!
I have seen those same lighthouse dishes in 2 different thrift stores here in FL. They work perfectly (and you don't have to store them!) with this table but the best is the napkin rings! So cute!

Happy, Happy 28th Anniversary, Debbie. Hope you and Sir Lotsa Hair have a fabulous celebration and many, many more wonderful years!!
And, the tablescape is perfect!! Love those Lighthouse napkin rings... I see why they inspired this setting! blessings ~ tanna
Love the table. Love the red white and blue.
I bet the Duchess is the hostess with the mostest, isn't she?
Love this seascape! The lighthouse napkin rings are awesome! Come link up to centerpiece Wednesday on my blog and share your ideas with us!

Love those lighthouse napkin rings too. Everything goes so beautiful together. A very pretty table.
Beautiful table.
I do enjoy our pooling of resources for parties or events. And, I admit, I am plum tuckered out too. My elder daughter admitted not long ago that she was afraid she was becoming like me and therefore the Duchess. I guess it's in the genes. I just hope at 73 I can accomplish as much as the Duchess. Sigh.
Love the table. I understand why the napkin rings were your inspiration. They are so cute. Very summery and lighthouses definitely count as beach.
Hope you get some rest so you won't poop that anniversary party this weekend. Sir Lotsa Hair will not be happy. Just sayin'...
Y'all created the cutest tablescape. Love the lighthouse theme and the adorable napkin rings.
If I had those napkin rings I be setting up a sweet tablescape like this myself and I guess I would need to borrow some stuff too...because I am in a cleaning out mode and having so many BEAUTIFUL DISHES would mean SuperDave would be asking (once again) "where are you going to put THAT?" or "What are you going to get rid of so we have room for THOSE?" Congrats on the anniversary! Party it up, girl!
For a "party pooper," you sure know how to put a fun table together. I'm loving nautical and Americana right now too.
Happy Anniversary to both of you. Have a wonderful celebration and hopefully a little rest!
ohhh Happy Anniversary ! ours will be 30th in August.... good grief I married him when I was only NINE !!!
You weren't much older either I bet.
LOVE the lighthouse plates etc. ya'll always set the BEST tables.

Those napkin rings were definitely the trouble of putting together this fantastic table. I love the plates and the red glasses. What a wonderful idea to own the same sets of things with friends or relatives. The only problem is that my daughter and I usually want to buy different things! Early "Happy Anniversary"! Congratulations on 28 years!
Oh this tablescape is one of my favorites yet! It just says sweet summer. Lovely.
Thank you so very much for your friendship and loving support!
It's a great tablescape...you just can't help yourself, can you?! I can tell that you love it. LOVE it! Have a wonderful weekend...hope that you're making special plans or does your hubby sometimes have that responsibility? (My hubby never makes plans.)
Oh how fun! Those plates and napkin rings are fabulous, and I think your little red salad plates add a lot to the settings. You really are a party animal; not a party pooper. Have a wonderful anniversary celebration. Congratulations to both of you! laurie
Great table! And the napkin rings are inspirational, so how could one resist?
The storyline, as usual, steals the show.
Happy Happy Upcoming Anniversary to you and Sir Lotsa Hair!
I am another Georgia girl belly laughing right now while loving your fantastic tablescape! I am delighted to have found your blog and forwarded it to my creative genius friend who is all about tablescapes. You crack me up!
Great table!
I love the red flatware! I have similar glassware and love them. I need to find more!
Rest up now...28 years must be celebrated!
Deanna
Sounds like you had a fun week! Love the great shore theme and I'm lovin' the napkin rings too! Happy Anny:@)
I always giggle my way through your posts about the Duchess. I must meet her sometime!
The ladies of many families of my acquaintance over the years choose the same silver and china so that they can share or divide it up to pass it down. It's a good tip for the casual stuff too.
I am stealing your napkins rings -- fair warning!!!
Now that you've made me feel not so "pooped", I have to stop chuckling about the procreated slave labor. My slave labor is not as accommodating. ha ha. Okay with those cute napkin rings. i would have set up a table in the blazing sun myself. Love the plates .. wow. this turned out just great. Now go rest up and have the happiest of anniversaries ever. Congratulations. xo marlis
You might be pooped but you are no party poop! You are a party animal!! Are you kidding???
That tablescape is gorgeous as usual.
My favorite colors are red, white, and blue.
I think it's great to pool resources. LOL
sandie
Very pretty table. The bright reds and blues are just stunning. Cute lighthouse dishes, and I love the napkin rings.
Your table is beautiful and certainly doesn't look like you are pooped. Love the dishes and the cute napkin rings. Hope you get a little rest.
That was the cutest post, Debbie!! You did a fantastic job of crating acting a wonderful seaside table scape. Now, go and get some rest to enjoy your 28th anniversary!! Congrats!!
Cute table! I love all things nautical and the lighthouse theme is perfect! The little houses by each setting is such a cute idea! And you're so right, pooling resources is so smart. You are very lucky to be close to family! Take some time off and relax...you deserve it! Happy Anniversary!
I love this table! The lighthouse theme is great and I adore those napkin rings...too cute!
OK this Lighthouse theme is adorable. The napkin rings set the whole table off! Love this table! Great job. Lots of party-ing going on!
Gorgeous!! I just love your plates and the light house centerpiece is perfect. Totally beachy/oceany!
Hi Debbie,
You really do create the best tablescapes, and I love your tip about "pooling" your resources with the rest of the family (no pun intended since you're by the pool).
As always, I love this whole table. Flowers are one of the first things I notice, and I LOVE the big, blue hydrangeas combined with the red and white flowers. Lovely combination! Also, those napkin rings are darling, and so is the lighthouse centerpiece. Your red and blue flatware is beachy and patriotic too. But I really love the Duchess' lighthouse plates. They're sooo pretty. :)
Believe it or not, one of my favorite pictures in your post is the first one; I love how blue the water looks next to your table. This is a great post, and I can certainly understand why you're pooped. :o) I hope you and your wonderful hubby have a very happy 28th anniversary -- congratulations!!! We celebrated our 25th last month.
Thanks so much for your concern and the kind comment you left me. I haven't been a good blogger lately, and I feel really bad about it. But I got a bit discouraged, as this kitchen re-model has taken four months. To be honest, I'm feeling a bit pooped myself. :) But the kitchen is finally finished except for a few paint touch-ups and writing the final (big) check. Cringe.
Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for being such a good blogging friend.
Hugs,
Denise
I just love reading your blog, Debbie. It is so entertaining. You are so funny! I love your table, love the dishes and I especially like the napkin rings. They are so cute!...Christine
Love this red, white, and blue! The lighthouse napkin rings are adorable! What a neat set of dishes!
You are making me want some of those red goblets!
Thanks for your sweet comment.
Katherine
I'm exhausted just reading this!! Here is my 2 cents worth
I love the napkin holders
Happy Anniversary
I hope it was a Republican!
Carol
Absolutely! Get some rest and celebrate that 28th!! Your tablescapes are so wonderful, it almost inspires me to do the same, but I'm kind of doing it vicariously through yours. I will put out flags in my front pots though, and maybe even some red white and blue in the house.
ENJOY this milestone... with many more to come. :)
You are so funny! And what a great daughter you are to wear the u haul it shirt! :)
I love the plates, they really are lovely. The napkin rings are so pretty! I have some, but not as substantial as yours!
You did a great job on this table.
Son just called to say they are in NYC in the hospital, baby is on the way!
Hey - this east coast girl boasting time in South Jersey and New England can appreciate your lighthouse beach theme today. Just whisks me away to the land of seagulls and jettys in all our Americana red, white, and blue - also appropriate for another party on the horizon in a couple of weeks. Enjoy your anniversary under the party radar!
Joy!
Kathy
I understand that pooped feeling sometimes...the red white and blue tables are beautiful. I like The details
Oh my word, your tablescape is amazing. Love those napkin rings, unreal. Rest up now for a while. Hugs, marty
Debbie your tablescape looks amazing. Love the red, white and blue and also the lighthouse theme. I love lighthouses. And the blue pool looked really nice too.
Debbie, this tablescape just makes me HAPPY. The colors are so crisp and although the table is filled it doesn't look crowded and overdone. Tell the Duchess I'm looking for an invitation to the next "event".
So cute! I love the lighthouse theme. Everything is so cute. I have a thing for red, white and blue so of course I love that.
Hope you're resting up for your next celebration. I assume a Happy Anniversary is in order?
Love it! I love all the deep colours, the flowers, the lighthouses everywhere and my favourite thing is the little fisherman in the centre. Ship ahoy!
Debbie, You are a hoot!! I many that in the most loving southern way.
I am so you and the Duchess threw this table together. I love the lighthouse theme and if not for trees and houses I could probably see a lighthouse from my front porch.
I love all the lighthouse thingies and especially the napkin ring. I love, love the napkin ring.
Thanks for your humor and beautiful table. Happy anniversary, Ginger
What a gorgeous tablescape! Love the lighthouses...perfect for the beach. You deserve some much need rest. Go relax and have a great weekend. Happy Anniversary! :-)
your so right about parties being exhausting...I've been hosting for the kids...okay maybe that's even more exhausting and there's parties I have to attend that friends invited. I'm not a party person per se....Your table yet again is amazing...the colors...everything so perfect. Love the blues...
Great post and wonderful table setting. Love it all. It’s a pleasure visiting your blog.
Polyester Tablecloths
Wow! If that's your pooped version then I can only imagine when you have your full energy. It's gorgeous and I love the theme. I'd eat dinner at your table any day.
♥♥♥ your table, Debbie...the colors are what I think of for ushering in summer...and it sure is here!
I always justify my pitiful volume of blog posts by saying I'm too busy--then you go and blow my excuse completely out of the water. How do you do it???? And are you going to tell us more about those adorable napkin rings? I love lighthouses and was just going through my pictures thinking about a post on them. Your table and the dishes are really great. Linda
It sounds like you have been having a lot of fun and enjoying your summer. I hope you are feeling much more rested by now. I love the tablescape! It sure looks beachy to me!
so excited to see your pretty nautical tablescape! Featuring on our Everything Coastal blog this week with a round up of 4th of July beach tablescapes.
Nice to meet you!
