Magnificent Seven

The other day, I got one of those blog awards from my friend Amy at All Things Home. Apparently, the woman thinks I'm stylish or something.

Seriously, Amy?

But I accepted this award because it gave me a good reason to yak a little about me. (Oh stop it. You know you kind of like to do it too...) Apparently, all the stylish bloggers this season are giving up 7 completely random facts about themselves. That sounds kind of fun to me.

How else could I possibly tie these 7 mostly unrelated facts into one post?

1.  It is impossible for me to type the word verification on a comment without sounding aloud the pronunciation. Eeebibaguble....

2. And when I click that blue box that says Save Now?
     I always say, "Hosanna!"

3. If I enjoy a movie, I randomly interject lines from the script into my daily life.

The first movie that I ever saw with the husband was Coal Miners Daughter.  Since that time, I have seen it 4,728 times and speak fluent Loretty. My favorite line is when she says, "I done wrote myself a song Peggy Sue. Your mama's a dadgum song writer."

I use it to crow about my own accomplishments.

I done cleaned myself a toilet, Laurie Lou. Your mama's a dadgum toilet cleaner.

4. I haven't waved like a normal person since The Princess Diaries came out in 2001. I just rotate my hand in the queen wave and say, "Thaaank you for being here today."

5. I like to annoy my husband by calling uniforms costumes when he's watching a football game.

6. I wave from the front porch every time my husband leaves to go out of town. Most of the time, though, it's in the wee hours of the morning. Since I don't want to give the neighbors a jammie shot, I just stick my  hand through a crack of the door and rotate.  The last thing the poor man sees as he's leaving town is Thing doing the queen wave.

7. I have zero hearing in my left ear. Therefore, I have complete conversations with quiet people without a clue as to what they have said. I just follow the facial expression. If they smile, I smile. If they look sad, I  purse my lips and nod. This makes it very difficult to carry on a conversation with the masked Vietnamese girl at the nail salon.

And yet, I try.

Now, I'm also supposed to pick 7 other bloggers and infect them as well. That part is not so easy. First, not everyone enjoys getting infected with a blog award. Plus, I can think of more than 7 who deserve to be.

So I decided to stick to this style theme and choose 7  bloggers who are prone to the verbal meander just like me.

I want to say upfront that this is meant entirely as a compliment so please don't think you have to do a thing but get the big head. Or... you could just bank it to use as a blog prompt and share those 7 random facts without infecting another small blog village.

But I like to imagine what this magnificent 7 would do with it:

Jennie would spin it into a Mom Thing.
Sharon would somehow manage to turn it into a devotional.
Sonja would take it on a bumpy ride down Memory Lane.
Janette would turn it into 7 Mental Pausing Moments.
Tanya would tie it into an old family recipe... which she'll try to cook. Then, she'll get all wigged out because the picture doesn't do it justice.
Lynn would make a royal mess of it, the details of which will make me laugh until I cough...

...which isn't always such a good thing when you're pushing 50.

Leslie won't be able to do it at all since she's down with a thrifting injury. I just want to mess with her head and see if she attempts to peck it out in lower case letters with her right hand.

Shoulder shaking laughter going on over here! Doesn't work well when you are holding a coffee cup in your hand...just so ya know. Every time you share something about yourself, Debbie I think, "why does that not surprise me?" :-) Be sure to come over later this morning 'cause we have a little surprise for you...hehe...

OK, I'm thoroughly enjoying the big head right now! Thank you (really) for giving me the award - it is sincerely appreciated.

I'm taking the challenge - next week I'm going to do something about the random 7, and yes, I'm going to find a way to make it into a devotional (dadgum it, yes I will).

As for your 7 - as always, I am laughing my head off (which is quite a feat because it's a LOT bigger now)!!

xoxo and GOD BLESS you, my funny friend!

(Can you see me waving??)

Love the facts about yourself! Maybe you could fit a fun fact in every post as a special feature.
Calling the players' uniforms "costumes" is a wonderful idea!!! I usually ask my husband which team he is voting for. Same philosophy. I'm going to start using the term costume, though.

Terribly reassuring to know that I am not the only girl out there who obsessively pronounces those security code thingys.

Over from the Picket Fence and wanted to say hi. Now a follower.

You are so funny! I especially enjoyed the comment about sounding out the verification codes as if they were words. I do that too and some are just dadgum hilarious! Oops! I feel a Loretta Lynn attack coming on. Cute! Cute! Cute post! Hope you have enjoyed a wonderful Valentines Day!

I am not fond doing the awards, but I sure enjoy reading what people write when they receive one. I am also partially deaf in both ears and I do the same thing because really people don't want to repeat things. Now about the royal icing. Give it a try...it's not hard. Follow Jacqueline's instructions. They whip up quite quickly and are so fun. Make sure you don't cheat on the 10 minutes of mixing in a heavy duty mixer. Very funny post. Joni

LOL! I didn't know about #1, but since I do that too, I'm not surprised. Now, #2...I had NO clue, but I can so picture you shouting that. I had totally forgotten about your dadgum affection to Loretty. But since your niece now calls everything not completely unfortunate thanks to her favorite movie, I remember she gets it from her favorite aunt! So funny. Great post.

Oh, I am feeling the love here! You are too funny and who cares about classy, I like real. I try not to covet your writing abilities. You are a talent, scantily clothed and waving THING, I see a vivid picture here. No wonder he hurries home every week!

Laughing so hard as I Try to comment!!! Love knowing 7 more things about YOU!! Thanks for the suggestion to get a calendar made. Haven't done it yet, but I want to be a "dadgum calendar maker!"

Oh Debbie, I have tears in my eyes! I have laughed so hard, and still can't get this silly grin off of my face! You are so much fun! "I done cleaned myself a toilet..". You crack me up! I refer to men's underwear as "panties", because it gets my son and husband all in a twit. I may start the costume thing too! My obsession with the word verification is that I always make up a meaning for the word. It usually has something to do with the post I just read, and I always want to leave a second comment, telling the blogger about it. That could be a vicious cycle, so I avoid doing it! LUV, LUV, LUV your post! laurie

Well now! I found you through Lynn, so you can blame her! As you are soon to discover, you've attracted the attention of one said tabby cat, named Romeo. Yep, that would be mememEoWmeMeOW. And from time to time, you'll see I drag "her" with me but only if I'm needing someone to carry my snacks for me on the long blogging trips. Today, I could have used "her"....why? Well because I was sipping my milk WHILE reading your post and now I have milk coming out my nose. I don't suppose you have a kleenex handy do you? Ah, never mind, I'll just walk around with the milk-nose. Don't they do magazine ads or something like that with milk?

Well, I had a grand time and when I'm famous for my milk nose, I shall be sure and give credit where credit is due. Fair enough??!?

Purrs!

Debbie, this is a wonderful post for starting a brand new year!! I love it!! At the risk of sounding like a little sales person, I have to say that necklace really makes the dress. WHO KNEW?! And I do love the dress. Isn't it wonderful to discover something that looks good on us that we never knew before?

I hate clothes shopping. My sister, mom, and MIL can pick out lots better things for me than I can. My sister gave me an infinity scarf this year for Christmas, and I absolutely love it and I think it looks good on me. But...I would never have thought to get it for myself.

I love the moral of your story, and as usual, you tell it in a laugh-out-loud way; it's great to have you back!

Hugs,

Denise
