When God Gets Tickled Pink

So, how many adventurous folks out there took up the challenge from my previous post and celebrated Hoodie Hoo Day yesterday?  Anyone? Anyone?

As for me, I decided to join the Eastern Standard Time Hooters already in progress. As soon as church was over, I meandered against the crowd and headed toward the pulpit area...

and through the choir loft...
which leads to the back of the church.

There, we had parked the getaway car.

Straightaway I went, making just one pitstop to hold a sweet smelling baby. I walked to the car, rested my load on the hood, raised my hands, and did the Hoodie Hoo before the choir could disrobe and catch me.

Quite pleased with myself, I headed to The Duchy for lunch. When I opened the door, I got The Look from the Duchess.

Where were you?

I explained that I had spirited myself out the back door to Hoodie in private. The sister just shook her  head and laughed.

Well, you missed it.

Indeed, I did. Apparently, the Duchess had read my challenge and shared it with her faithful sidekick Vern. So certain were they that I was oddball enough to Hoodie Hoo for a crowd that they had conspired to join me

They greeted the pastor as proper ladies do. Then, they walked down the steps, lifted those quilted Bible covers in the air and did the Church Lady Hoodie Hoo.

They turned to see my face.
Which wasn't there.
I was, as you recall, hidden on the Baptist backside hooting in secret.

All they saw were curious congregants wondering what spirit had invaded the First Baptist Church.  They explained themselves, however, and even convinced The Sister to join them for round two.

I'm pretty sure that her version was more like jazz hands and falsetto, though.  In her head, she probably sounded just like Snow White.

From all accounts, they created quite a giggle on the First Baptist lawn yesterday.  I'm pretty positve that  wholesome laughter is perfectly fine with God, too.  In fact, I think those two old church ladies made Him chuckle.

Do you know why I think so?

Because on my thirty mile country commute  home,
this is what I discovered.

Awesome.

So if you're still looking at the dull gray of winter, don't blame me.

Didn't I tell you to to Hoodie Hoo?

I'll be sharing this little beauty with

You betcha we Hoodie Hoo'd right down those steps. I was a "bit" quieter than the Duchess and her dear friend but I DID participate. We also did notice you were noticeably ABSENT! Well, at least our whooping did seem to do some good. Loving those flowers!

Laughing with you today.

You know what Debbie... you are just flat out FUN!!! You are my kind of girl, life is meant to be enjoyed, and I am so sure that Jesus means for us to laugh and have fun along the way. This was just precious!

I forgot to leave myself a note to Hoodie Hoo... I woke to snow this morning. Soon as you mention it next year it goes on my calendar:@)

LOL, oh that is funny. I am sure all Hoodie Hooing was quite a fun spectacle. I am so envious I didn't get to view. How wonderful spring is springing in your neck of the woods. I am digging in the leaves to expose my crocus to expedite their bloom time. Debbie, I just discovered the Motif Monday too, but I agree with you it would be great carried out in more than a single item. Fun idea for a party.

Well, I missed the Hoodie Doo, but maybe enough of your carried over into Texas. :) Actually, we are seeing signs of spring...72 degrees right now. Lovin' it.

Debbie - your posts always bring a smile to my face.

Blessings,
Joan

Debbie,
You have the best sense of humor and I'm lovin' it! You are right, I didn't Hoodie Hoo and we're getting SNOW tomorrow! I can see you now hiding out at the back of the church and your Mom, her friend and your sister out front! That's too funny!

I was consoling a sick baby yesterday so I forgot to Hoodie Hooo. I thought about it yesterday evening and giggled out loud thinking about you Hoodie Hooing in front of the church. HA! I hate you missed the Duchess and Denise Hoodie Hooing, but I probably would've snuck off in the back to Hoodie Hodd myself too. Such pretty flowers! Y'all must've done a good job! It's yucky HERE today - not a flower in sight. Guess I know why.

I'm still rolling from laughter .....

OM Goodness! I would have given just about anything to see your mom's face when she turned to see you .... and you weren't there! LOL!

But what fun.

I suppose not enough folk in our area did the hoody hoo .... no signs of spring blooms .... yet. But my daffodils are trying real hard!

Cheers!

Loving every bit of it--humor, picture, AND that great quote at the top of your sidebar from Oliver Wendell Holmes.

What a great idea to display a blog button of the week. Hmmm..might just have to be a copycat. ;)

Have a gorgeous Monday. Blessings!

Oh, so I see - Bobbleheads are really chickens in disguise! Well, I'm going to give you credit for Hoodie Hooing. But bigger snaps go the girls on the front steps - sorry.

Yesterday was a pretty special day in our family, and I've got to tell you - I heard God Hoodie Hooing over us!!

I'm tickled pink by your pictures - and glad to see that the wonkiness seems to have resolved itself (hope that didn't jinx anything!)

GOD BLESS, my delightful friend!

Hi Debbie,
This was such a riot. so cute! would have loved to see those 2 doing the Hoodie Hoo dance, as well as you!
I completely forgot about it, and I wound up being home cause I went to church but wound up having to come home, cause I was having such bad stomach issues. Wonderful!!
So I could have Hoodie Hooed without looking crazy, well, maybe next year, but..........
please be sure to remind me!!
and looks like it worked by all those gorgeous flower shots...........now promise me you did see those on the way home from church???
and they weren't shots from last year!! lol

Well happy belated Hoodie Hoo,
Blessings, Nellie

I would absolutely love to go to church with you and the Duchess. I would have loved even more walking out and seeing you do the Hoodie Hoo and then seeing the church ladies with their quilted Bibles doing it as well.

Oh Debbie, I have tears in my eyes! I can't stop laughing! The vision of your mother and her friend hoodie hooing on the front steps of the church, while you were hiding away out back just cracks me up! (I'm beginning to wonder if you set them up!) I think you're right - God had a good laugh too! Nobody - and I mean NOBODY can tell a story like you! Thanks for my "pain in the side" laugh for the evening! laurie

I don't think you have any idea how much I love this post. What you did is *exactly* something I would do. And it almost serves us right to miss all the fun! :) I'm so sorry you missed out on the official Hoodie Hoo party...*but* I'm impressed at the influence you carry. You go, girl! ;)

(By the way, I still want to make the mint chocolate cookies...have Andes mints on my shopping list. My parents are here and I just KNOW they want them.)

Okay I laughed out loud at the mental image I had of this in my head, then I teared up for some reason. I think it was over the thought of your mom loving you so much that she would do the Hoodie Hoo for you on the front lawn of church. Debbie, do you read "The Mitford Series" by Jan Karon? I have a feeling you have...if you haven't then you do not know what you are missing out on. Anyway, this totally reminded me of something that would happen in her books.

A funny, sweet precious story Debbie. Thanks for sharing!
