We were going to make a tufted memo board like the one that we made the Practical One, but when we walked into Hobby Lobby with a graduation gift card (great gift idea, by the way!) and saw this one at 50% off...
We bought it. ...
And she still had enough left over on the gift card to buy some unfinished pieces.
We took this trash can
Painted it black
and decoupaged the top with some hoarded
zebra print tissue paper.
zebra print tissue paper.
Then we trimmed it with ribbon
And used the trusty Gorilla Glue
to add a
painted pink and green polka dot
"L"
to the front.
Completely unnecessary?
Yes, but fun.
Even more unnecessary are the little coasters made out of these left over napkins.
I can't help it. I like to decoupage.
Call it a hobby...
Call it an addiction.
Some people smoke...
I glue old napkins onto junk that I find lying around the house.
We kept sewing and crafting.
I wanted to jazz up some more picture frames.
But she stopped me at two.
Apparently, she doesn't want to be known as
that girl down the hall with the weird crafty mom
Too late...
Too late...

You are the queen of crafting! I have been dethroned. (Answer to your question: The spider in the picture was always referred to as a writing spider in our family, not the scientific name but...) Anxious to see the finished dorm room~!
To cute, the best dorm room in the building! the bulletin board was a great find, sometimes I am so disappointed when I find something and I can't make it, us crazy crafters. Thank you for the very kind words and sharing in my publishing frenzy and joy!!

WOW...Love the trash can, her roomate will be so envious ;) and the coasters are such a cute idea! I cannot wait to see it all together you have done such a great job so far!!!
Beyond adorable, friend. However, just one comment...her roommate likes to hunt BEAR, not zebra, right?!?!
I'm just sayin'...
Girl, you have got some great crafting and beautifying skills. Love that garbage can.
I love when a deal sneaks up on you and leaves time to do other things. What a fun look for a dorm room.
The more we do the more I love it!
Can't wait to see what it looks like when we are finished :)
Love,
Best daughter ever
LOVE this crafty stuff. Just wondering at your quote for today...are you the creative or the screwball?
Hugs
Denise
Dearest Denise, I would say that you could probably make that call better than anybody...
Dearest Debbie,
Since more often than not I am the partner in crime, I say creative. Our children (and probably husbands), however, would probably lean toward thinking we are more the screwball. And if the three of the four that only lurked would post a comment now and then we might know. I know Miss Whimsy would lean toward voting creative. Thank you very much.
You will be known as the mom that the girls want to do their room!!!! So way cute!

i'm impressed! It makes me want someone to get crafty to spruce up my room (someone else will naturally have to do it because I was not blessed with the crafting gene)!
You are so FUNNY! You crack me up. I painted my girls' trash can and hot glued on ric rac - that was before I discovered Modge Podge. Your idea is sooo much cuter! Love it! Your coasters turned out really cute. Are they on the little tumbled marble tiles or is it something else? They looks GREAT!
You just crack me up! And you have been so incredibly patient with me! I will reward your patience...just keep being patient, ok?? Soon...very soon.
Love all your weird crafty Mom stuff! And guess what? We must have been separated at birth, cause I have that same WCM syndrome!! HA!!!
We are using zebra to accent Maddy's Paris room makeover. I'll be posting updates as we move through the project. Love everything you did! Funny and crafty...my new BFF!!
Have a great week!
HUGS,
Becky
Froufrou, the coasters are made from those same cheap tiles from Lowes.
How cute is that!!! Love it! You have inspired me and I'm going to pick up some decoupage and have some fun.
